Meditation for Focus and Productivity
Meditation works by emptying the conscious mind. You do this by directing your thoughts away from yourself and your problems, and focusing your attention inwards to a particular point of reference. Meditation is regularly used for stress relief and anxiety but is also becoming a recognized formula used by successful people both for problem solving and for the manifestation of goals.
Regular meditation can improve your ability to prioritize and manage tasks and goals, It will give you the ability to focus on specific information and will help you to stay more focused and alert. When you master the power to maintain focus during meditation this skill can be easily transferred and used in your work life.
Meditation can be a very powerful and empowering tool when used regularly. Top business men and world leaders use meditation and visualization to get the necessary results required of them in this every changing and challenging world.
How to Meditate
There are many forms of meditation depending on the motivations for meditation, one of the simplest forms and easy for the beginner to do is a Breathing Meditation
Choose a quiet place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position. You can sit in the traditional cross-legged posture, in a chair or in any other position that is comfortable. The most important thing is to keep your back straight to prevent your mind from becoming sleepy.
Close over your eyes and turn your attention to your breathing. Breathe naturally through your nose. Do not attempt to control your breath. Become aware of the sensation of the breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils. This sensation is the object of meditation.
At first, your mind will be very busy, and you might even feel that the meditation is making your mind busier; but in reality you are just becoming more aware of how busy our mind actually is. Allow the thoughts to come and pass, there will be a great temptation to follow the different thoughts as they arise, but you should resist this and remain focused on the sensation of the breath. If you discover that your mind has wandered and is following your thoughts, you should immediately return it to the breath. Repeat this as many times as necessary until the mind settles on the breath.
Good Luck
