Ships without Rudders Eventually Hit the Rocks

As I typical do at this time of year, it is time to talk about direction and strategy. What are your plans for 2010?? The "ship" analogy will resonate with most of you reading this newsletter but only a small percentage will recognize how deeply it impacts your organization and what to do to fix it. Compounding the challenge, too many leaders don't recognize anything is broken - so why fix it? The underlying disconnects do not reveal themselves easily and, often, until it is too late.

For your company to run efficiently and productively you need....... direction, capable leaders, engaged employees, effective processes and systems, and products and/or services that deliver value. Navigating your company through turbulent times can be exponentially more challenging if you don't have a solid "rudder". In other words, you need a strategic direction that is...

The impact and benefits are real. Your organization becomes more agile, leaders are better equipped to motivate their employees, employees become more engaged in their work, problems are solved as they occur, better decisions are made, coordination and collaboration becomes the norm, and you enjoy consistent and sustainable results.

8-Step Strategic Planning Approach: A simple way to keep your business on track is to follow these steps... and remember this does not need to be a week long boot-camp event. If you are disciplined, you can develop a successful plan in a single day.

Step One: Invite the right people and make a commitment to the process

Step Two: Define your company's purpose - a mission statement is a good start

Step Three: Assess your current situation - a SWOT analysis is a good tool

Step Four: Look into the future - make assumptions that will impact your future success

Step Five: Define your competitive advantage and strategic direction

Step Six: Decide how you will measure success - key performance indicators

Step Seven: Determine key performance improvement initiatives

Step Eight: Assign responsibility, take action, and assess progress

Whether you do it yourself or ask for help (if you are not sure if you need help - feel free to give me a call for guidance), start the process now. The outcome does not need to be perfect. It needs to be meaningful, provide direction, and inspire confidence.

Your age? Your age? - Hi Nana, Have you voted? You can give your age group a boost. What is your Potential? On another forum I read of a 17 year old, who always earned some money. He washed cars and had regular repeat income. Eventually he gave it to his friend, then he did the newspaper round. Then he learnt about the Internet and games. Got fed up and began to learn programming. Eventually he earnd a good income and by the time he was your age, he earned beyond 100,000 Australian Dollars. Give yourself a vote. Affiliates Affiliates - Evan-- I have considered affiliates, but I wanted to start more of a viral campaign and see if it worked. I'd like to see how creative people can get! Eventually I'll look into an affiliate program. Thanks for the advice!
Re: Hello. Re: Hello. - Thanks for the advice.. Nice quote I read a few of his books.. Yeah I made more as an investor than agent. Eventually I'll get back into investing as I love that too. Hope to use some of the money I make now to re-invest into IM and then income properties in the future...Then write some ebooks with affiliate programs...etc...
Re: How to Promote a MLM Business? Re: How to Promote a MLM Business? - Absolutely David. I have not read this book, but I familiar enough with Seth's work to know what you mean. This method does work, and quite well. The best part is, it lets you focus on Quality versus Quantity. You could follow some systems and have to weed through 20, 30 or more leads a day to find the 1 or two a week that are serious. Or, you can have that same 1 or 2 a week coming to you. Eventually it will be far more than that every week too.
Go 2 Interviews without suspicion Go 2 Interviews without suspicion - I totally agree with that survey. In the Winter months I'll suit up about 2-3 times per week and it is amazing the difference it makes in perception of my role in the office. Also as a side note people always think I'm going for an interview the first month or so. Eventually they stop asking. So Forum readers if you are thinking of jumping ship and don't want to arouse curiosity among your work colleauges then give it a shot. A few weeks before you plan on sending out your resumes start dressing up (I think the Tie would be too much in most places that are casual)
