The Powerful Minute - "Humility"
This week I'm really suggesting that we look in the mirror with a little less seriousness than I might normally do. I'm a big believer in being 100% responsible for where we are in life. But I also don't want us to forget that life is fun. It's full of twists. But if we can take ourselves a little less serious from time-to-time, it won't hurt.
Humor - Here's a true story - last week we moved our website from one server to another. How hard can it be? You just move the whole thing over, right? Yes, that's right and from then on, small, relentless, never-ending changes - broken links, email reconfigurations, products not functioning properly. Man, it was a lot of fun! Well, not really. But, here's the thing. We knew it was not going to be a seamless transition. We knew we'd find things we hadn't thought of. We knew we would have to re-do and re-do again some things.
So was it frustrating? At times, yes. Sometimes a lot. But all in all, I just kept asking myself to see it as humorous. What's the moral of the story? Don't take things too seriously? Especially yourself. In the scheme of things it's just not that big of a deal.
So this week - laugh a little - at yourself. You might be surprised just how good you feel about acknowledging your own humanness.
Have a great week!
