Do you struggle with information overload? Do you take time to go out to your favorite sites to see what is new? Is your in-box stuffed with information from various blogs that you have subscribed to? Are you going nuts trying to manage it all? If any of these questions ring true to you, then you might want to consider looking into knowing more about RSS.
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. It is a way for you to get your information from the web in a streamlined way without bogging down your email in-box.
The great guys at Commoncraft have created a very easy to understand video to tell you about RSS and why you should consider using it. I got a giggle out of watching it and I hope you do too. I think they do an awesome job of explaining complex issues in really simple terms!

The following is a transcript of the words spoken in the video RSS in Plain English. It is only 3.5 minutes long, so take a look and tell me what you think. Do you use RSS? Tell us what you love about it! http://www.commoncraft.com/rss-video-transcript
Using RSS to be more productive
By using RSS to pull all of the relevant information that you need to be properly informed, you allow yourself the opportunity to take in the information when the time is appropriate rather than when it hits your email in-box.
Many business people have their email open at all times. This means, when new emails come in, they are notified. Often this means that attention is taken away from something else because there is a psychological need to respond.
By eliminating some of the "dings" on your email, you allow more concentration time to get important things done. Then, schedule time on your planner to catch up on the knowledge information on your RSS feed reader.
