The Best New Years Resolution is to never make them again!

Guest post by: Bradley Foster

Article Overview: The Best New Years Resolution is to never make them again. Do you know long does the average New Year’s resolution lasts? 72 hours-about the same period a diet lasts. That means that on or about January 3, most people who made resolutions have forgotten or abandoned their plans for change. It’s well documented that successful people make goals and stick to them, they don’t bother with resolutions. Perhaps the best resolution is to never make resolutions again. Make goals instead.

Do you know long does the average New Year’s resolution lasts? 72 hours—about the same period a diet lasts. That means that on or about January 3, most people who made resolutions have forgotten or abandoned their plans for change. It’s well documented that successful people make goals and stick to them, they don’t bother with resolutions. Perhaps the best resolution is to never make resolutions again.

Goals are something you can work toward every day if they are something you truly want. The New Year speaks of new beginnings, which is why most people tend to make resolutions. It’s as good a time as any to figure out what you deeply desire for yourself. There are plenty of resources that will help you figure out what your goals are, some of which are on my website in the articles and resources section.

The quicker way is to hire a coach who will help you identify your strengths, values, beliefs and desires, all of which will help you recognize your goals. A coach can also help you identify how you get in your own way, preventing you from succeeding (we are all guilty of this) and provide accountability, often the biggest reason resolutions and goals remain unfulfilled.

Good luck with your goals in the New Year. It’s as good a time as any to start making things happen in your life.

Ready to Re-invent Yourself?

I offer professional coaching services in the following areas: career/executive/business/leadership/life/writing/relationships and creativity. I help individuals and executives define and get in step with their stated goals and values. I'm an experienced coach, having worked with hundreds of clients over the past five years, coming to coaching from a business background and as a trained therapist. My clients and I work to close the gap between who or what they say they are, or want to be, and who or what they actually are now, as expressed by their actions.

I'm also a writer, and communications consultant. I have published dozens of articles in North American newspapers, websites and magazines and for Reuters and Thomson Newspapers over the past twenty years. I published a book on self-coaching with co-author, psychologist and coach, Dr. Stephen Renfrey, called Deep Coaching: A Guide to Self Directed Living. I am currently writing a book on creative life strategies. I write a monthly career column called Ask The Coach in Job Postings magazine. I also write articles and have a blog I update every week. I recently published an article on the boundary between therapy and coaching in Choice Magazine, the premier coaching journal.

I am a successful entrepreneur, business development executive, and business and communication consultant before turning to executive and life coaching full-time. I have an MA from The University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science from the McGill University. I also attended The Ontario College of Art, Columbia University and I have a three year certificate in Leadership and Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. I received coach training from the Gestalt Institute and the Coach Training Institute.  The breadth of my experience and the training I've done ensures that you'll get insight, clarity and direction from me.

Re: New Year Resolutions... Re: New Year Resolutions... - My New Years Resolution is to be earning $500+ with my online business. This includes any freelance work that I do. I'm about half-way there now. Another Resolution is to look into selling more on eBay and maybe finding a reputable dropshipper that offers competitive pricing on high-demand items. I like eBay and the opportunity that it provides. I've mainly been selling personal items, but I'd like to start tapping into a larger market and making some significant income on eBay.

And when you're selling items on eBay from a reputable dropshipper... do you think it's still important to pick a product you're passionate about (like what an entrepreneur would normally do when starting a business)? Or is it just about moving a popular item for profit on eBay?

I would say yes, pick products that you have an interest in. That's the best option if you're going to like what you do. Hopefully you can find a balance between products you're interested in and products that are in high demand.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategies - I would honestly say, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Years ago I was so proud to say that I could 'sell' to anyone in any industry. Over time I realized that certain industries were much more lucrative in terms of commissions and order quantity. I think the same idea definitely exists in internet advertising - if you are looking to one or two single sources of online marketing, you aren't seeing the whole picture. Keep with it, and try and make some kind of consistant effort.

While it's important to learn and understand one strategy at a time, it's also just important to broaden your efforts. Let's face it, we can't all be masters at any one strategy. It's best to diversify and make the most of our marketing efforts and reach the widest range of people as possible. Consistency is the key. Keep at it everyday, and you'll see results.
