Efficiency - Getting More Done In Less Time
As we go through our days and weeks without plans, we are literally wasting THE most precious resource of all - TIME. Planning is essential to any project. Specific metrics are essential to any business endeavor. You would not invest in a business if it was not heavily planned, the progress reviewed routinely and the management held accountable for producing the stated goals and promises.
Here are some tips to saving precious minutes and hours each day.
Plan your Day Planning has a bad reputation. Planning is seen as restrictive, cuts out spontaneity, limits and confines people. The opposite is actually true. You are really able to focus and succeed at your goals through planning. Think of planning your time like you do planning your financial future. If you do not plan you will never have anything beyond today in front of you.
Look ahead of you as far out as you can tolerate. A week, year, 3 years. What results - financial, health, relationship, career, children - are you committed to? Ask yourself - How am I going to get there? What do I need to do today to insure that I end up where I want to go? Am I committed to those results or are these just pipedreams? If you are committed, a plan is essential. If this is too daunting, start small. Plan this week.
Weekly lay out your objectives. Plan each of your days as a milestone for that week.
List your routines and tell the truth about how long it takes you to do them. Get dressed and out of the house in the morning; get ready for dinner, eat and clean up dinner; drive to the grocery store, shop, drive back and put the groceries away etc.
Block out time to work on projects and do not answer the telephone, text, or allow people to interrupt you. Put a note on the door or a message on your phone saying what time you will return calls or meet with people. They can and will wait for you. It is not necessary for you to be available to everyone else and leave you and your commitments last in line. There is a very powerful adage: "Your lack of planning is not my emergency."
Today - take the first step in getting more done in less time. Stop wasting your valuable time. Plan to plan. Schedule 30 minutes to review your commitments and begin planning and organizing your TIME - be a leader in your life and your business;be more Efficient.
