7 Twitter Tips for Entrepeneurs

7 Twitter Tips for Entrepeneurs

I will assume you found this link on Twitter, and therefore

at least have a Twitter Account. If you don't have a Twitter

account, then take 3 min and open one. New Tweepi is still easy to use

I want you to take the time right now, to commit to

using Twitter daily for one week. If you follow what I ask you

to do, you will grow your Twitter following by 1,000 followers

your first week, and at the end of a year, you will have 50K

followers. If you can commit to just Tweeting for a week,

I think you will convince yourself the value of Twitter.


Make sure if you have an assistant, they are there when you

choose a name, or you set up a second account, so you can

brainstorm for feedback and they know in which direction you are trying

to take this account.

You can use your real name or a UserName. If you

have been on Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'twitter']);"> twitter for a while, then open a new account,

and expand your Internet imprint using these tips and others.

One last item before we begin: Twitter drives traffic to blogs better

than any other Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'social media']);"> social media method, or any other method for that

matter. It does this extremely well for a variety of reasons, and I don't

have time to get into the "why" and "how" but statistics, research,

gOOgle analytics, practical experience and data all indicate it

beats Facebook, LinkedIn or other sites, and even TV to drive

traffic to a blog landing page.

1. Building a List of Followers

A. Find People Feature. This is a way to check out

a profile. You can also determine if all they do is "sell"

something, is the account unbalanced with followers whoNew Tweepi is still easy to use

don't tweet? Find People Feature is key to your list

management and the future, use it everytime you log in,

so you are familiar with it.

B. Find a list that matches your profile, or your business,

and begin to look over the ratios of "Followers" to "Following".

You want to pick another profile similar to yours, and which

has a balanced ratio.

C. To start, you can use Tweepi.com to begin building

who you follow. At the top of each page is the "Geeky Follow"

button, and this will take you thru an easy API log in; then

you enter the name of the Profile/UserName you researched in

B. above. Tweepi.com is NOT a download, you are using in a

sense a "feed" when using it's API to log in.

D. Tweepi.com will allow you to follow up to twenty users

at a time, and if you master using this free, easy, no strings

attached tool early on, you will build a following much faster,

and more efficiently. Again, there are no downloads, just use

the free tool, surf there now, you'll see.

2. List management is key to any business endeavor, it is true

in CRM, eMails, direct mails, on Madison Avenue, and Main Street

list management means pruning out the "non-buyers" and bad

addresses in a traditional campaign, and is no different on

Twitter. Unfollowing Unproductive Accounts becomes crucial,

and when you logged in to Tweepi.com that was made rather

apparent.

if you follow "productive" followers in the first place!

3. Following "Productive" Followers: When searching

for followers, I used to look strictly at the Profile, instead of

the latest tweet. THIS GOT ME NOWHERE!! I would follow 500 people

and get 20 to follow me back, rather inefficient. So now I follow

people with Tweepi.Com who have tweeted within the last Hour!!

I stand a mathematical probability that they are at their computer

right now, and may follow me back immediately. In the very

least? I know they are active users.

4. Picking good lists and bad lists. Look the worldNew Tweepi is still easy to use

is a world of words, and getting this right can be a bit of trial and

error. But this is a two or three day exercise - it should

take you no longer than that to determine what is a good list, and

which to stay away from. Find EndUsers who not only have large

followings but who have good list management. The closer they are to Par, the

better the list is managed. Finding your next list to follow

is something you should do everyday.

PICKING LISTS SECRET: If you pick a good EndUser's

list, and you find they have a really active audience, and

you follow the most recent followers, you can grow your business by

approximately 500 followers per day by following up to 900

people a day!!

5. Content - Tweet at least 5 times per day. Get Balance.

This is the whole purpose for being on Twitter...I can't

say enough about this. You may get 3 or 4 unsolicited followers

from one Tweet! Later, when you have 50,000 "Followers" you

might get 50 more people following you from that one tweet!

A. Use the # ( called hashtag in Twitter Parlance,

not the Pound Sign...) to denote which kind and categorize

your Tweet so someone can find you in the Permanent Timeline.

Thus one of my favorite quotes, as a Tweet looks like this:

"Whatever You Are Be A Good One" Abe Lincoln #quote

B. Use Links in your Tweets/Content no less than

50% of the time
until you hit 50,000 followers, some people

continue to put a link in every Tweet forever. Why? It enhances

your standing for FREE with the Search Engines, specifically

Google. Tweetmeme.Com has popular ReTweets you can use

with links already built in. If you find an article from

any source, say while researching? If it interests you,

it will likely interest your followers. You can shorten the

URL at tinyURL.com and cut paste it into your Tweet.

Put the Link AFTER your text. Not before it. Twitter

has the responsibility to shorten the Tweet and at times,

it may cut off the end of your Tweet. So always put the URL

after your text, Twitter will never cut off A URL on purpose.

C. Provide balanced content that appeals to wide

range of people
. Twitter is about developing an evolving

consensus of people who follow you for many reasons, not

just to hear your drivel about burnt hotdogs this weekend.

They are following you because something caught their eye,

a quote, a #hastag category, a common problem or solution.

My son's favorite line at the end of his Tweets is #Content

is #King. That alone probably gets him 100 very, very

intelligent followers each week. He Tweets at JurzeeDee,

you can see his balance.

6. Don't waste time. The single best time to search

for Followers?? Thursday night after work. Why? Because

of Follow Friday. The hashtag designation on Twitter for

Follow Friday is also #ff, but #FF is used too. When you

tweet on Friday, you would say something like this:

"Thanks for Following, Please Follow these Fine People:

@museinks @JurZeeDee @WAHMBN #ff " Pick a few that

you followed on Thrursday night, and who have followed you

back by Friday. If you only had one

day to really build a following?? Then follow 900 Ppl

on Thursday, and I have had as high as 80 or 90 percent

followback rates!
I have never experienced an account

I have managed that did not have DOUBLE THE FOLLOW RATE

ON FRIDAY AS ANY OTHER AVERAGE DAY. That's powerful

smart marketing. Lastly, weekends are not as popular,New Tweepi is still easy to use

it is no secret in the U.S. that Twitter is busiest

during normal 9 to 5 business hours, but you can do

list management, and Follow/Unfollow on any day.

7. Do not sell your product on Twitter. Build

goodwill. Plant Seeds. Sow. Give. Adjust your mindset,

plant miracles in peoples lives, remember what you

were put on this earth for...We are not going to get

anywhere anyway if all we think about is money and the

bottom line. You want to get in this framework to succeed

not only in life, but on Twitter. Drive the EndUser to

your blog or Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'facebook']);"> facebook page. UserNames will only click

your link ONE TIME if you are "selling"

and they won't make the mistake twice, they might even

unfollow you. I have literally hundreds of people that

follow me only because they know I have never tried to

sell them anything. If you look at your campaign as

another "sales" opportunity, then you need to remember,

a salesperson's primary task is to help others help

themselves and to assist them in making up their own

mind. So adjust your thinking. {I could cut/paste

at least 25 tweets I've run across this week alone

where end users simply do not follow back so

called Internet Marketers, or people who are overbearing

with the latest scheme or plea for business )

In conclusion, Twitter is one of mankind's most

fascinating Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'efficiency']);"> efficiency tools. It was originally

designed for you to be able Post Updates to your

other social sites by Telephone, and now more

people actually access Twitter by their PC.

You can still update your your

LinkedIn account, FaceBook, entries Your Blog, you can

put your home page on your profile, you can literally

drive hundreds of people in one second to your blog

page, and have them read your material. OH YES! Twitter

as Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'efficiency']);"> efficiency tool is better than ever, and the best

value on the market (free) for updating all your social stuff

simultaneously by phone?? All the other sites would

love to be able to do what Twitter does, but Twitter

has already cornered the market for Text Tagged Article', 'Click', 'efficiency']);"> efficiency and

most people don't even realize this aspect of Twitter.

Twitter is more than a micro blogging social phenomena, it is

an extremely powerful way to develop huge numbers

fast.
If you follow 900 people per day, and 20% of

them convert to "FollowBack" then you are gaining

and audience of about 4k followers per month, and

50,000 followers per year.

Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? - I'm sure in many cases Twitter sends more traffic than Search Engines because most people don't have good enough SE rankings to get SE traffic. But anyone can get Twitter traffic. The problem is that Twitter traffic won't convert for the most part and SE traffic will. I'd venture to say that 98% of the time getting just 100 visitors from search is better than getting 2000+ from Twitter.

So I would still use them for your keywords. It's just that if you are searching for something on Twitter you can either go the #hashtag route, or do a direct search on the Twitter homepage. I guess you could use #hashtags when searching on the Twitter homepage as well! DH

I polled people on both my accounts and (not surprisingly) the Twitter people said Twitter and the Facebook people said Facebook! The actual order of my social media presence looks like this: 1) LinkedIn (with little success) 2) Twitter 3) YouTube 4) Facebook
