TweetUps
Meeting people you network with on
Twitter is a matter of setting a date in advance, and finding a low
cost location. Casual Tweetups may be easier for some, and done at a
local eating establishment. Make sure you notify the server or front
end that you are expecting strangers.
Event planning comes into play
here, and I'll cover that as well on Evan Carmichael in a few other
articles. Make sure you do a search of good event planning “quick
tips” so that your Tweetup goes off well.
Even if you are an Internet
Marketer, and you plan to build a worldwide empire, you must allocate
time toward locality search.
You must follow local people on
Twitter in order for this to develop your in person networking
skills, and to do a Tweetup. It is best to schedule a portion of
time each week toward this goal. Whether it be 20 minutes a week, or
per day, you must have a regular, non negotiable amount of time
scheduled for following local people. If you reach out to local
people on Twitter you will enhance your skills and improve locally
before attempting a major roll out of your product, book or service.
By getting better locally you can expect to use the same skills when
you travel for book signings, or hold a major conference. If you
can't even organize a 5 to 10 person Tweetup at a local eatery don't
expect your major event to go off very well.
Some quick tips:
Have an agenda planned out. Even if
your event is casual, have a flier or material that you can give to
those who attend your Tweetup.
Enunciate clear expectations, and
goals, and where you are headed. Good networkers want you to achieve
your goals, they realize the power of giving better than most.
Go to your Tweetup looking for ways in
which you can help others achieve their goals, make connections for
them, and think of ways you can help them gain more business.
