Food is such an important part of our lives. In North America, it's almost an obsession. There are many tempting choices and we often go overboard just because we can. Instead of eating to satisfy hunger, we eat to fill emotional vacuums. There's a Confucian saying "Always carry 30% hunger." It means that we should stop eating before getting very full. Confucius probably didn't have the interesting food we have these days. However, it's all a matter of habit. If we can walk around feeling a bit lean and mean, our bodies will probably thank us for it and we'll enjoy better health.

My name is Evelyn Chau. Enlightened Eating is my coaching site designed for those who want control over their food rather than letting food control them. In short, I help dissolve negative emotions that lead to over-indulging -- emotions such as anxiety, stress, anger, boredom, sadness and others. I use Emotional Freedom Technique, a method that's based on the Chinese system of meridians. I use finger tapping on significant points that are like gateways to the mind. It's the fastest and most effective way to change unwanted behavior. I also do Guided Visualization. I worked with athletes on achieving peak performance using this technique. By combining these two methods, I aim to help people change their mindset on food, eat mindfully and healthfully. My education is from Trinity College, U. of Toronto. I studied with various teachers and have practiced as a coach for about five years. I've also completed a Mind Body Medicine course with the Harvard Medical School. In the next few months I'll be working on videos for weight loss, increased motivation and lowering stress.
