Canadian Web Hosting
Canadian Web Hosting
Whether you choose a Canadian, America, or Russian provider is a matter of personal preference. For the most part, people don’t care where their web pages are hosted, so long as the people they want to reach can access it. If your website is targeted towards a specific geographical area, you might have more of a reason to choose a Canadian provider. Still though, I would recommend taking into account a number of other factors before you consider geography.
If this is your first time setting up a website, then you’ll need to look for three things in your provider. First of all, you want quality. You want a company with a good reputation. You want a company that has everything that you now you need and everything you didn’t know you needed. That is priority number one. In my opinion, it’s better to sign up with a reputable American provider than a shoddy Canadian one, no matter how strong your roots are.
Whether America or Canadian web hosting, what you also need to look for is constant support. I don’t care if it’s three in the morning or seven at night, I want to be able to reach my service provider whenever I need to. You never know when something could go wrong and I don’t want to be talking to a machine.
The third thing you’ll need is an easy to use control panel or dashboard. Especially if you’re a newbie, your control panel will be your saviour. It can lead you step by step to where you want to go and help you achieve what you want to. Most companies will also have an option for advanced users, letting them tinker with the html as they please. But check to see if they also have support for beginners.
If you’re running an e-commerce site, you’ll also need to check for special features that will help run your business seamlessly. These include multiple email accounts and risk management programs like spam, virus protection and data backup. These features won’t cost too much more, but they’ll make all the difference in the world.
Before deciding on your Canadian web hosting company, check to see who some of their former clients have been. Visit their websites and see how quickly they load. If most of the sites are down, you already have your answer: move on. But, if their clients’ pages load quickly and have professional templates, then make a note. You can also try contacting those clients directly to get their advice and see how satisfied they are so far with their provider services.

As a Canadian small business owner, do I need a Canadian web hosting provider? I’ve been asked this question more times than I can count. As much as I like answering questions in length, I’m sorry to say that this question has one very simple answer: it’s up to you. Yes, that’s right.
