If you’re on the hunt for cheap web hosting services, then look no further. The Internet can be a daunting place when you’re dealing with anything to do with domain name registration and website hosting. There are thousands of companies proclaiming their virtues, and new ones popping up every day. How do you know which one to pick? How can you be sure that they’re as reliable as they say they are – and as reliable as you need them to be? How do you know if they offer everything you need for your website, including support? Read on to learn how you can find the best service for you.
Before you jump into your search for a hosting company, you need to be sure what it is exactly that you’ll be needing from them. Do you want a simple 3-page website to publish an essay? Do you need a website with full e-commerce capabilities, including shopping cart, secure payment, and more? Don’t underestimate your needs, but don’t overestimate them either. Think clearly about where you would like your site to be in five years and go from there.
Next, comes the part most people hate to think about: their budgets. Ignore it as you might try, your budget is going to dictate how far you’ll be able to go. For just a few dollars a month, you can get a simple hosting plan. You can even get a free plan if you decided to allow ads on your site. If you’ve got the money, however, there are also plans that cost into the hundreds of dollars for month.
Before you think about finding cheap web hosting services, think about what you’re expecting to get out of your site. Do you plan on making a profit? If so, how? Will you be able to use programs like subscription services or affiliate programs to generate some extra income? Don’t spend more than you think you’ll at least be making back. If your website is not meant to make a profit (in which case, I would ask why not?) then definitely do not invest in an expensive hosting service.
Free hosting can be great for those on a limited budget. But for those who want to create a professional looking website, you need to avoid having ads on your site at all costs. Look into cheaper alternatives, such as shared hosting. Here, your site will sit on a single web server that is shared with tens or even hundreds of other sites. Reliable for the most part, you will be giving up some control, and you might experience slow loading during peak times.
Another alternative is a managed server. Here, you rent an entire server for just your site, but the hosting company still looks after it. All of the technical troubleshooting is left up to them, but you can often retain administrative access as well. A pricier option, this is best for someone with a high-traffic site, too busy to handle the system maintenance side of things.
