Domain Web Hosting

Many people think that finding a reliable and secure domain web hosting company is the most important part of starting up a website. While that is certainly an important part of it, I’m of the belief that designing your site with an eye to the viewer is of more value. After all, what good is a website that is up and running and has enormous bandwidth capacity if nobody wants to visit your site in the first place?

The first thing you should keep in mind when designing your web site is the content. Contrary to what you and many others might think, study after study that looked at eye patterns found that users are actually attracted to text before they are to graphics. After all, people are coming to your site for the presumed content that is on it – the information. Graphics are important, but never put them second to your text.

Secondly, keep in mind how eyes wander over a web page. Where is the first place they look? Studies have shown that eyes initially start off looking in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. They then look across the top of the page before scanning downwards. That makes sense considering that is how most computer programs are formatted, with the top left-hand corner containing the menu. If that’s the first place people look on your website, then make sure it’s something look-worthy.

Depending on the domain web hosting company you choose to sign up with, they should be able to provide with you the necessary site-building tools you need to create a well-thought out website design. But, be careful not to take advantage of too many of their tools. For instance, just because 100 different fonts may be offered does not mean you need to use all of them on your home page.

Studies have shown that fancy fonts and formatting are largely ignore by most users. People come to your website in search of something, usually information. They automatically assume that fancy formatting is either advertising in disguise or simply a waste of time. Also, the brighter your page, the less time people will be able to stare at it. Stay simple and streamlined.

While people usually try to avoid looking at ads, that doesn’t meant that you can’t have them on your site at all, and that they can’t make you money. All it means is you have to be creative in terms of where you place them. More people look at text ads than they do graphics, so concentrate on those. They also look at ads placed next to the best content, so try and incorporate them into that. Be careful though not to be too obtrusive or your visitors will get turned off.

In your search for a domain web hosting company, look for one that will be able to offer you flexibility and lots of different features. Remember, however, that just because those features are there does not mean you have to use them all.
