Web Design and Hosting
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It’s basically nothing more than a way of describing how text and images should appear on a website. Think of it like the glue that holds together all of the content you want to appear on the site; it’s just telling it where to go.
You don’t need any fancy HTML editor to write HTML and design your page. You don’t even need anything fancier than your simple Notepad program. If you choose to go that route, however, you need to learn the structure of HTML tags in order to insert them yourself. Tags are sort of like adjectives – they give value and different characteristics to the images or text that follow them.
If you want to learn more about HTML, there is no shortage of places you can turn to online to give you an in-depth tutorial. If you haven’t been convinced as to the fun and joys of HTML yet, and you want to skip that step altogether, there is a way. Indeed, you don’t need to know anything more than how to use Google in order to become a web design and hosting master.
There are a myriad of website editing software programs out there that are what we call WYSIWYG, or what you see is what you get. With these, you don’t need to know any special programming language. All you need to know is what you want to appear on your website and how you want it to look. The programs will do the rest for you.
One of the most popular programs out there to help you build your website is Adobe Dreamweaver. This is one of the simplest programs for newbies to use in build and maintain their websites. From the very start to the very finish, there is little technical expertise you need to have to create a stellar website with Dreamweaver.
Another popular program is Adobe GoLive. Although a little more complex than its Dreamweaver counterpart, GoLive works well for those looking to create CSS-based content. GoLive is especially good for those working on an e-commerce site. Many web design and hosting companies such will feature Adobe GoLive as part of their premium packages. They could be expensive, but they could also be worth it.
