Web Hosting Company

You wouldn’t buy a house without asking the real estate agents a few questions first, right? You wouldn’t buy a pet without asking the vet about its medical history and such. By the same token, you shouldn’t sign up with any web hosting company without asking them a few critical questions. They are as follows:

1) What are your hosting server’s capabilities?
The faster the server hardware that hosts your site, the faster your site will be, and vice versa of course. Look into what the actual capacity of the hardware is. Then, move in to how many sites are hosted on the server you’ll be sharing? Is the company overselling space and bandwidth? Do they have a spare or backup server in case anything happens? And, do they perform any regular backups of their own? If so, are these stored on separate servers?

2) What kind of plans do you offer?
In asking this, you need to be sure about your website requirements. How much space is available for your site, emails and database? How much traffic can you manage? What kinds of email features are available? What kind of anti-virus protection is available? Can you upgrade later on if you need to? If so, how much would that cost and would your site be down for a long period of time?

3) What is your company’s track record?
Any good web hosting company will be more than open with its history. After all, there should be nothing to hide. How long have they been in business? How many sites have they hosted in the past? What kind of customer support is available and when?

Go with the company that provides the most satisfactory answers to all of the above questions, and I mean all. Don’t just ask them one or two. In order to make sure you’re signing up with a reputable company and getting the most for your money, you really need to do your homework.

Make sure you have a clear handle on what you expect from your program and what your own goals are. If you want a simple and affordable dot com, then a simple budget hosting program will work for you. But, if you want more than that, if you want to sell products online and the like, you will have to spring for more. Asking the above questions will make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck.

A reliable web hosting company is one that provides 24/7 customer support – by telephone. They have a limited time money-back guarantee in case you’re not satisfied in your first few days. They have server backups, offer high levels of bandwidth, and backup power supplies. They should also have a T3 connection or better, and more than one in case the other fails. These days, there are thousands of companies trying to get your business. Make sure you’re signing up with the one that will mean the most business for you too.
