Free PDF Download IS BIGGER BETTER IN PR? - By Thomas J. Madden |
PR is no bed of roses. In fact, stories with a less sweet scent are a lot easter to market to media with noses for negative news. When the BP oil spill turned the Gulf of Mexico into a lifeless brownish lake, TransMedia promoted "BP BLOWS" t-shirts worldwide, including in London where hundreds of protestors wore them at a rally in front of BP headquarters, which got global press. It's the same thing with negative political ads. They attract more attention and usually get more results. With the flood of them in the past election, it's no wonder so many of us are voting for the least undesirable candidate? However, one area is an evergreen of positivism when it comes to media interest. And these are stories that are environmentally friendly. Give me an energy saver, a brighter idea and I'll get you a ton of press. From 2000 to present, TransMedia Group ()has helped to brighten the media environment by promoting innovative, energy-saving products. We were one of the first PR firms in the country to aggressively promote compact fluorescent lightbulbs. We also helped to brand O*ZONElite, a titanium dioxide-coated, energy efficient 23-watt lightbulb that effectively eliminates bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold, smoke and odors from the air. We even created "The Greenie Award" and gave it to ourselves. We still own the doman www.greenieaward.com. Here are just a few of the endless amount of hits we got for one little light bulb.
