That’s Gold In Them Thar Vending Machines

All that glitters in vending machines may not be all candy bars, but gold bars. Yep, thar's gold in them thar vending machines!

As if the fever at shopping malls this Christmas season wasn't already high enough, a company called PMX Gold just raised it a few more notches.

This week the international public relations firm TransMedia Group helped the public company to launch what may be the ultimate entrepreneurial venture--the first GOLD to go^TM Vending Machine in the U.S. and shoppers at Town Center Mall in Boca Raton were quick to join the latest gold rush.

In May, Ex Oriente Lux openedthe first permanent GOLD to go vending machinein the lobby of the Emirates Palace Hotel (home of the $11 million Christmas tree). It wouldn't be long before those gold vending machines would make it to America and in particular to an upscale community like Boca Raton, Florida. .

"Boca is for the rich and famous," said TransMedia Group President Glen Calder, who served as the spokesman for PMX Gold. PMX Gold is a Boca Raton-based company that will operate the GOLD to go^TM vending machine for Ex Oriente Lux. "The Town Center Mall is where a lot of people go to spend a lot of money. It's a good fit."

As one journalist observed: "I really had no idea that Boca had so much money. I mean, I knew it used to be a destination for the rich, but I figured those days passed with the days of ties at the dinner table and smoking jackets. I guess some things never go out of style, and for rich old East Coasters, gold never goes out of style."

TransMedia said it was retained by PMX Gold, LLC, a wholly -owned subsidiary of PMX Communities, Inc., a public company(OTCBB: PMXO).

PMX Gold has entered into an agreement with Ex Oriente Lux AG ("EOL"), the owner of the technology.

According to PMX Gold CEO Michael C. Hiler, the company will conduct test marketing on an exclusive basis in Florida during an initial three-month period, and, on a non-exclusive basis, assist EOL in seeking additional test markets and licensing and franchising opportunities within the United States.

The first GOLD to go Vending Machine began dispensing gold bullion and gold coins on Friday at the Town Center Mall here. TransMedia said it will coordinate media exposure for the gold-plated machine, which so far has achieved exposure across the media spectrum, from AP, FOXand NPR toJay Leno.

So if you're in a prospecting mood, fly down to Boca Raton and bring a suitcase full of cash with you.

You can forget about bandits and thieves. The machine is flanked by an armed bodyguard and monitored by a myriad of cameras and other more veiled security.

Hoping that Boca's machine is a gold rush, Gold to go^TM plans to install more gold dispensers in upscale malls and hotels across the U.S. They're joining a vending-machine craze that seeks to streamline purchases of iPods and acne medicine; now even nightclubs are featuring automated machines selling shoes.

PMX Gold, the Boca Raton company test marketing the machine, said the vending machine was installed at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton after similar machines were previously installed at international locations including the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The company said the machine, which was unveiled at the mall shortly before Christmas, updates its prices every 90 seconds to reflect the current market price of the precious metal.

For instance, I recently bought a demo Prince Speedport Gold tennis racquet for $157.51 USD (including shipping to my friend's condo) on eBay, while another seller had previously turned me down because he/she insisted that the PayPal account's address match the shipping address. That same racquet retails in Canada for $305.04 CAD after taxes. A lot of my friends don't have PayPal accounts and don't like giving their credit card number to "smaller" online vendors, so I'm often limited as to where I can shop.
