First Annual Florida Heroes Ride for the Pride of a Nation bike-a-thon will kickoff Dec. 12 from Pensacola to Miami, a course of over 650 miles, to benefit the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity. The Event to be billed as "A Marine...a bike...a mission" (www.rideforthepride.org), will help raise college funds for the children of U.S. Marines and Federal Law Enforcement personnel killed while on active duty, said former Marine Sgt. Terence McIntyre, who has pledged to be the first to "Ride For the Pride . . . of a Nation." TransMedia (www.transmediagroup.com) will publicize the Boca Raton native's initial solo bike ride and how every mile will help raise money for the educational needs of children of fallen heroes. "Our greatest asset is our youth, the future of our nation" said Mr. McIntyre and TransMedia's mission will be to spread that word. "We're honored to serve such a charity powerhouse as the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation working with Terry on this event as we believe the wealth of a nation is measured by the quality of its youth and the ultimate sacrifices paid for freedom," said Tom Madden, TransMedia's CEO. TransMedia will partner strategically with Made in USA-Certified, a supporter of the event in advancing goals of acquiring sponsors and getting more riders involved in future events. TransMedia plans to publicize what inspired McIntyre to create Ride for The Pride, which is the story of Corporal Jason Dunham, a marine who sacrificed himself by diving on a grenade, thus saving several fellow platoon members. Cpl. Dunham is the first marine to receive the Medal of Honor, awarded by Congress, since Vietnam. With Jason's story to inspire him, Terry points his bike toward Miami. McIntyre served on active duty from 1984-1990 on Okinawa, Japan, Rome, Italy and in Panama where he was involved in "Operation Just Cause," which led to the capture of Panama dictator Manuel Noriega. McIntyre is a graduate of Chaminade High School and McGill University.
