Re: How To Build Great Pillar Content For Your Internet Business Re: How To Build Great Pillar Content For Your Internet Business - Building up the great content is more important for any Internet based business. I believe in that but my understanding of a pillar content is that, "the content that adds value to the visitor". The content adds value when it gives a solution to the reader on a particular niche. Re: Is YouTube Going Commercial? Re: Is YouTube Going Commercial? - [quote="RussellWebb":2f9yp2pm]Something else to consider is that kids are using youtube as a search engine - can you imagine a search engine filled with video content, maybe it's the future of search? I'm gearing up for it. Not only do videos rank better on natural search, but they can teach a lot more in 60 seconds than the written word. The key is to produce videos quickly and keep it informative and entertaining. Make 60 second clips for your products and move on. Using Camtasia is a good place to start...[/quote:2f9yp2pm] You're right, Russell. Videos are great learning tools. I for one am keen on learning something by watching, not by reading. Video tutorials are great, and Camtasia can do a great job with this.

I know from personal experience that I can read something and not have a clue about what I just read. As with reading something again, you can replay videos over and over as well. Also, as with reading faster, you can skip ahead in a video.

Re: Video Blogs: Yes or No? Re: Video Blogs: Yes or No? - I think different kinds of videos - and podcasts - need different treatment. When I produced some podcasts back in April I felt that detailed notes were needed to supplement the recording or provide an alternative for the site visitor. With a short "talking head" video, I would add a brief introduction to cover the main points. In both cases, resource links are very helpful. When it comes to consuming the information, I don't sit there and passively watch the videos, but LISTEN to them and just check back from time to time usually while doing other routine jobs. As I've said before, I save up videos and listen to them while packing orders. It's just like listening to the radio while ironing! === Edit: Oh, so, to answer the question... Video blogs, yes or no? Yes, fine to have a video blog, but I agree that some kind of text-based support is important both the the site visitors and presumably for the search engines too. The more choice visitors have, the better.
