Entrepreneurs can benefit more from public relations than anyone else. Why? Every entrepreneur has a story and effective public relations comes down to one thing - effective story telling. Although people have a tendency to lump advertising and public relations together, they are extremely different animals. Advertising is generally what pays the bills for a newspaper or TV program. Those ads or commercials are the reason that the feature articles, interviews, news programs and/or talk shows exist.

The reason that media placement is so powerful is that it makes your story a part of that magazine article or TV program; it makes you a part of the reason that John (and Joan) Q Public have picked up that magazine or newspaper or turned on that TV program. Why? Because you become the story. You have sidestepped the advertising section of the media and jumped to the editorial section. You are the news and with that comes credibility and validation. You not only reach your target market, you’re positioned as an expert.

Unlike any other form of marketing, media placement can help establish you as an expert in your field and showcase you, your business, your talent and/or product. And it can do so locally, nationally and internationally. You are not in an ad or commercial, but part of the news. You are the story, you are the news!


And, once you start garnering media placement, you can use the Internet to amplify your coverage. A local newspaper article can suddenly become a national story. A TV interview can now receive worldwide coverage. You can use social media and Internet marketing techniques to take your PR campaign to a whole new level.

Public Relations is something you can attempt on your own, but if you can afford it seek out the professionals for help. They know the business, have the contacts and in the long run, can save you time and money. CEOs and Email - Slaves? - I wonder if the emails they are responding to are filtered thru their assistants first 'cos they seem to spend a lot of their off hours responding to them. True they are successful but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay that price. I'd be interested to know what's the in the typical day planner of Entrepreneurs on the Forum. Entrepreneurs are a different breed than Paid Employees- so it would be interesting to view the contrast.

It just makes me even more thankful to be part of this forum! After helping create a new charity for animals in my local community last year, I created a vision for a charity empowering Women Entrepreneurs. It won't happen for a while yet, but I know it is something I will do within the next few years. As we allow ourselves to think bigger, the opportunity to impact people becomes much bigger as well. Does anyone else have a desire to really make a difference in the world through this means?
