I love it when a plan comes together!
Undoubtedly the best bit of my job is when a client gets business through the coverage I've sorted out for them.
It doesn't always happen, but then PR is primarily designed to raise profiles, not bring in enquiries.
I've heard a few stories recently from clients which have warmed my cockles on these increasingly chilly evenings.
One was from an artist called Sarah Bell. I have been working with her husband Nigel to promote his hotel/restaurant Sampsons Farm for a couple of years now, but only put together my first release for Sarah this summer.
She had been commissioned to illustrate a cookbook to accompany the long-running Radio Four soap The Archers.
A great story, so it was reasonably straightforward to generate coverage in the Western Morning News, Exeter Express and Echo, Torquay Herald Express and others.
And last week Sarah popped into Radio Devon's studios for a slot on Richard Green's afternoon show.
Not only has my coverage brought Sarah's work to an audience of more than 130000 potential customers, but it has also brought in business - Sarah has recently been commissioned to write and illustrate a book on the local food producers of the River Dart!
Great news! Hopefully it will lead to more business with book publishers - particularly those involved with works on food.
I have more but I won't bore you with them (for now!).
But it just goes to show what an effect a good PR campaign can have on a small business.
