Too much work - is it ever a bad thing?

One of the beauties of my job is the variety. I like to get involved in all kinds of projects - as a PR company in Staffordshire there is no sense in being picky! We can't afford to turn work down, particularly in the current economic climate. And I see no real reason to focus on one type of business - I can help any company, large or small, regardless of what their budget is or what category they fall into. Because of this, every day is different.

For instance, the past week alone has seen me working on a blog for a sports retailer, collaborating with a web expert on search engine placement, copywriting for a security company's new website, developing an idea for bite-size PR workshops, and promoting loads of different companies and events.

It's great fun!

Alongside this, I have several other blogs on the go. And I'm working on traditional PR campaigns for about 20 other companies and pitching for work with another five or six. It's manic!

These are the types of companies I'm working with right now:

I can't complain - there are loads of companies out there who would love to be in my position. But it means I am always looking for ways to manage my time better, or people who would like to help me out.

Unfortunately I am not really in a position to pay at the moment, but if anyone out there would like to gain experience with a thriving young PR company in Stoke-on-Trent then I'm all ears!

Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? - Hi all, video marketing is very powerful and will really help get your content out there. A great little tool you can use on your pc is JIng pro, costs about $14 for a year subscription and allows you to make quality screen capture videos, very useful for tutorials and things, I use them a lot when i work one on one with my students. Having said all this, one thing that I would like to add is that yes video is the in thing at the moment and undoubtedly is very powerful as your prospect can see you and hear you, but one thing a lot of people forget really is that it is just a medium for carrying your message. Creating the right message and having something of value to say is what determines your success in marketing, online or offline for that matter.
Re: Question of the week: Does free work? Re: Question of the week: Does free work? - I think it depends on how relevent the free thing is and how good it is, also it is about how targeted you are with your marketing and the way you are doing your marketing. I would say that if you are say building an email list of subscribers to try and build a relationship with and then sell to at a later date then the free thing will work, if you are giving in exchange for nothing then i dont think it works as well. Nothing is really for nothing
Re: What inspires you? Re: What inspires you? - Doing what inspires you will never seem like work and following your heart is always a good thing. Personally I love to work for myself as I want the ability to make my own decisions about what and how I do things. I never liked other people having the power to tell me when and how I was to do anything. That responsibility must be mine to take plus I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. MichelleJ
Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? - After I leave the office, I have no problem leaving behind my computer, my phone and everything else. I hang out with my son, walk the dog, workout, etc. then chill out in front of the TV. But I just bought a new MAC to have a second computer at home, and tonight I'm hooked. Usually my eyes are blurry so spending too much time online aint a good thing. I let my eyes be the judge. ;0) I do agree that productive leisure is better than smacking down in front of the TV for hours - but again, after the reading and the work I do, an hour of TV to help my brain turn off is a good thing. I think its hardest for those of you who work from home. The boundaries arent there, or are very hard to maintain. That's why I have always had an outside office. J
Re: Balancing Your Man & Business Re: Balancing Your Man & Business - I think it can be very hard to keep things right with a guy as well as focus on your business. I think the best thing you can really do is keep your work at work, and home at home. When you're done working, turn that side of you off.
