Why Promotion?

This is a story I have heard more than once. A company spends a whole lot of money on developing a product or setting up an office or store full of stuff and when it comes to branding, advertising, publicity and generally getting the word out to attract customers - the coffers are empty.

So, the business sits there...with the owner crossing fingers and hoping that what they are offering will be discovered, perhaps by some divine intervention. When starting a new venture, and planning your budget, it is smart business to budget for your promotional future, even if you have to start small and increase your promotional spending as your revenue increases. This will certainly help you stay in the business of choice and not be looking for a secondary job to be supporting your business because no one knows you have a business except your close friends.

When trying to figure out a promotional budget, ask around. Call a friend in business, meet with public relations firms, and read about promotion and see if you can do some self-promoting on your own.

A well thought out plan to spread the word about you and your business will speak volumes down the road and will make for easier driving.

Re: How Not To Start A New Business Re: How Not To Start A New Business - Well, these guys these guys will not succeed at all. they need to have a way of doing things. First thing first, which market segment are they targeting? Or are they in the same segment the previous magazine was. They also need to understand the trends, currently people read online magazines so they need a website. After that they need to develop the marketing mix, which will guide them in their marketing activities. This marketing mix will be made of 4 Ps, which are Product, Place,Price and Promotion. I will assume the magazine is the product, the first P, The Price is what is the role the price will play in the market, do they want premium price, or do they want to skim the market. The other P, they need to have, is the Place, this will help in having a strategy on where to place their magazines, this includes the websites, malls, newspaper stands etc. The final P they need to develop is the Promotion, this is the advertising , channels, websites, forums, blogs, name it. Once they have done that, they can sit down and wait for money to come but not without superior customer service, otherwise without all this, they are wasting their time and money.

Re: Top Banner Help Re: Top Banner Help - I’ll third that!! Promotion is what the competition needs. The prizes on offer I think are more than enough to increase participation, it just needs to be promoted more on this site and other business related sites, I think I said in the past that I’ve been visiting this site for months and had even made 20 posts before I realized there was a prize up for grabs.
