But with great willpower some of us get over this hurdle and get to lunchtime, meeting friends it is hard not to indulge in a glass or two of vino, so our resolve weakens and we say to ourselves, never mind I will start tomorrow!! It is a known fact that sunshine lifts your spirits and helps your system work well. But how quickly the days, turn into weeks, then months and hey yes another year gone!!!! We have a tendency to expect life to be good and when it is not, the question we ask ourselves is very often ”why me?” and the longer we dwell on it, the longer it seems to last. As you can imagine that was a few (well ok many) years ago. As I sat on the floor with papers and bits all around me, I started reading what I had written about my dreams, hopes, worries and life at the time. http://www.evancarmichael.com/Business-Coach/5916/All-in-the-Minds-Eye.html http://www.evancarmichael.com/Business-Coach/5916/All-in-the-Minds-Eye.html I was laying on the top deck of a luxury liner, on a sun bed big enough for a family, with the warmth of the sun making my body feel relaxed (mind you it was aided by the odd vino or two!!), trying to read a book, but the lids on my eyes had a mind of their own. The start of a new day, new challenges and new mountains to climb. As I make my way to the bathroom and meet myself in the mirror, but all I see is my mum looking back at me!!! Where did all those wrinkles come from? The bags under the eyes have turned into suitcases!!! Even the jowls have started to form; I don’t remember getting this old. Probably grappling with the traffic on the M25, or hunched over reports that had taken over my dining room table as well as my office room, the breeze is warm heralding the coming months of summer, the only blot on the idyllic picture is my green pool!!!! But hey life is not perfect is it??? Or should we be expecting life to give us happiness, and then we can also blame the Government, the neighbours, the children, the economy, our partner for all the things that are wrong in our lives too!!
