Are you out of "touch"?

Touch screen computers have been around for what seems like a long time now, but they have become an affordable mainstream technology for small retailers.

Are they more expensive than standard monitors? Sure, they're usually about twice as expensive, but they offer many benefits. Touch technology came along and stayed because it is so intuitive. Next, software programs began to be designed with this technology in mind. Properly designed software used in conjunction with a touch screen, makes it easier for a clerk or user to learn to use the program, and it can reduce the number of "keystrokes" or "touches" required to complete a transaction.

The result is a shorter learning curve and reduced training costs, plus reduced transaction times, meaning your lines move more quickly and customer service can be improved. What's not to like about that?

Furthermore, now many manufacturers integrated other items such as the customer facing display and the credit card swipe (MSR) into the frame of the monitor, so you have a technology dense piece of equipment that is both user friendly and highly efficient.

Ask your POS provider about touch screens for your store. If he can't supply them, or the software you're using won't support them, it's time to find yourself a new POS partner.

Re: How to network for inventors Re: How to network for inventors - Hi Kevin, You need to find ways to keep in touch and stay top of mind. What I've done, for example, is created a list of the most important 30 people that I want to stay in touch with. Some of top authors, some are customers, some are partners, some are prospects, etc. I make a point to find a way to stay in touch with them every month by helping them out. I'll look for articles that might support their business, try to make introductions that will be useful and invite them to events that they will find valuable. You can't do this for everyone you meet because you also have your business to run and it can be time consuming but try to separate your list out so you find ways to stay in touch with the most important people who can have a significant impact on your company.
Re: Is Bulk Mailing useful for promotion Re: Is Bulk Mailing useful for promotion - Thanks for the tips will try profollow and mailchimp. I have tried with cc, aweber, icontact and interspire. Every software has its own pros and cons. Yes, opt-ins are good to get in touch with customers who are interested to hear from you. But what about the other potential customers who are not opted but they also might be interested in my product and services. Don't the real potential target customer are sitting outside and search for our products? How do we proactively in touch with them? Thanks, Robert
Re: What are reasons to stay in touch with your customers? Re: What are reasons to stay in touch with your customers? - Hi Everyone, Thank you all for your answers, but I think my question was misinterpreted (I probably should have phrased it better). While staying in touch with customers is vital to any business' success, what I really wanted to know was... what are some of the reasons/excuses to contact your customer to say "thank you" or to just stay in touch. For instance, if your customer has been shopping with your business for 1 year or has spent "x" amount of dollars with your business or it's his/her birthday... what are some other reasons? Thanks
Re: Recoverable/Non-Recoverable Sales Draw Re: Recoverable/Non-Recoverable Sales Draw - I agree, I will keep him on sales draw salary for one more month at which point I will be following Astral Medias HR policy of going straight commission. I had high expectations that the inventory would be sold quickly, but I was basing these assumptions on Radio sales which is: an established media low touch (can purchase one day or 1 decade) accepted by advertising agencies One benefit the sales guy has brought us is creating awareness of our brand in Canada. We have been in touch with many advertising agencies, which are very reluctant to try new media. In the last week we have had many advertisers send us to their agencies, which if we do not impress, we will never get business from. I'm quickly learning in order to sell media, we must prove ourselves to agencies before clients will even think about it. And when they do consider us for a media, they consult their agencies first. So we will have to keep knocking on the doors of agencies before we get a contract. Had this been a low-touch product that was not new, I would have been more worried about my sales guy, but we are getting through to the decision makers in Canada, and once we establish a relationship with them, then we will be selling media. The process has turned out to be more of a commitment then I had initially thought, which means I will have to make a commitment to my sales guy as well. I will keep you posted, and we will have a little e-celebration when that door finally opens!!!! - Peter
