Free Martketing Tips for Retailers
There are lots of ways to market your business for free, assuming you don't bill yourself for your own time.
The key is to be dedicated and creative. This is not something that will happen overnight, but if you consistently spread your message, it will take root.
First, make sure you have good local networks. If you're in a retail strip, it's a great idea to have reciprocal discount agreements with other retailers and tenants in your area. This can work even for professional service firms. Give their customers a 10% discount for coming over from their store. If your neighbors are your evangelists, that's bound to drive more traffic to the store.
Second, make your face and name well known in the community by joining groups and volunteering in prominent places. You'll able to promote your brand and a positive image without laying out any cash.
Third, make sure your business is listed in all the free online business listings. There are great local listings that are free, just do a little digging around.
Fourth, contribute to online communities and local forums to promote any new products or activities you have going on. This will enhance your multi-channel brand and help bring people in off the web.
Keep after it and be creative. If you see an avenue you are interested in pursuing, give it a shot and measure the results!
