The Sellers Research Group’s take on Apple’s financial

Apple announces its latest financial results today at 2 pm (Pacific). Naturally, we’ll be covering the announcements in-depth. But first I wanted to give you the predictions of what Apple will announce, as determined by the Sellers Research Group (that’s me).

Wall Street expects Apple to report that it shipped 2.1-2.2 million Macs last quarter, a four to nine percent year-over-year decline. This would be the first time that Apple has reported a year-over-year decline in Mac shipments in five years.

I do think that the decline will happen, though I chalk it up more to the miserable economy than netbooks or more folks wanting dirt cheap computers. Those interested ONLY in price have never bought Macs anyway.

My forecast: Apple will report sales of 2.2-2.3 million Macs, beating (just barely) the Street’s estimates. I also think that the company will announce sales of 10-11 million iPods and at least 3.3 million iPhones.

Re: On Which Social Media Sites Are You Most Active? - It's great to hear how you're using it Bill - the strength of Groups is discussion so for anybody who wants to primarily use it for discussions you should look at Groups. The limit I believe is 5,000 members. If you want to do anything other than discussions then you definitely want to set up a Page. Good luck everyone!
Re: What Businesses to Bail Out? Re: What Businesses to Bail Out? - Very true - I agree that only certain businesses will be "rescued". Sad for the American public that its the companies who are billions+ in trouble. It has certainly been a bad week in the US financial world. I was even watching special coverage of an overseas financial market last night. Lots of ripples through the financial community. Its sad that nothing is in place to actual oversee and truly regulate the financial industry. To many people refuse to be accountable and they leave the rest of us holding the bag. Shri
Re: Citizen Journalism: There's no such thing Re: Citizen Journalism: There's no such thing - This clearly shows that if Steve Jobs sneezes the price of the stock will drop. Since Apple is a great company why do they have to link the rise and fall of the stock to one man? So eventually when Steve passes on what is going to happen to Apples stock?
