Why Improve Your Communication Skills?
Skilful use of communication enhances your credibility and professional image. Accurate communication with coworkers and colleagues increases your confidence and self-esteem. It helps you feel better about yourself and about your work. The following are some considerations for improving communication:
1. Evaluate your communication behaviours and strategies
- What works and what doesn't?
- Are there areas that need improvement?
- Are you willing to put in the time and energy required to improve your c skills?
- Do you present yourself with confidence?
- Do you present your ideas clearly?
- Are your messages usually understood by your coworkers?
- How well do you use and interpret non-verbal messages?
- Are you a good listener? Do you interpret other people's messages accurately?
- Are you having trouble with one person in particular or with a number of coworkers?
- What have you done to try to improve the situation?
- What new strategies could you try to correct the problem?
- Is there someone who can give you an objective perspective ? If so, seek their advice.
