Building A Social Media Presence With Freebies

A very important aspect of a small business marketing campaign is the ability to develop relationships with customers, clients and other important contacts. However, choosing the right method to develop relationships is important for creating good first, lasting impressions. One effective method is to offer freebies to customers. By giving something of value to customers for free, they will feel compelled to reciprocate in some fashion, usually by answering a call to action.

Freebie marketing and social media presence

Don't limit your freebies to visitors on your website. Instead, use them in your social media marketing campaign to build a stronger social media presence. You will have a greater chance of obtaining new leads by using freebies for new customers on social media sites.

Studies show that people are more likely to promote a business on the platform they are already using at the moment. Therefore, by using freebies on a site like Facebook or Twitter, your potential customers or leads will more likely promote you on the same site from which they received the freebie offer.

How to effectively utilize freebies and social media

If you only give away freebies without expecting something in return, you will not have an effective social media campaign. The goal of the free giveaways is to create a sense of obligation in your customers to answer a call to action.

If your customers feel like they must purchase your product or service, the freebie concept diminishes into an exchange concept. Therefore, do not ask your customers to answer a monetary call to action. Instead, you should ask them to sign up for your email newsletter, or something similar to that.

What items make for a good free offer

If you do not expect your customers to buy your product or service, you should only offer items that do not cost you a lot of money. Many business owners offer free, useful information in exchange for customers signing up for the business owner's newsletter. Additionally, many business owners offer things like T-shirts, key chains, stress balls, stickers and other small items.

Conclusion

Utilize freebies in your marketing campaign and discover new ways to develop relationships with customers. Testing and experimenting are the only way to know if free giveaway campaigns are right for your company.

I will tell you that the world is about 1 1/2 behind when it comes to understanding social media. Building a section now will put EvanCarmichael.com is a great position a year down the road when people realize Social Media can produce more traffic than SEO. Jeff

Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! - GT - thanks for the FYI - I'm not sure if we'll put a link back. Something to consider though! Trent - the new category is "Social Network and Media" which was put in to compliment the Online Businesses category that currently exists. Overall the new categories are: - Looking For, Networking and Events - Review My... - Social Network and Media - Brags and Rants These came as a result of Ringo doing research on other forums and thinking about what could be improved on ours to give a better experience for everyone. I hope you enjoy them! David, I'm looking forward to reading your Brag / Rant!

Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance - [quote="vbn411":7qciluxl]Social Media is space that you have to be in to succeed in our current climate. People are going to be discussing your brand / product whether you like it or not, so you might as well join the conversation and add value. [/quote:7qciluxl] I think that's probably one of the most realistic way to think about it. There's no real textbook way of understanding Social Media, it's the networks of people and their interactions that will exist with or without your input. As for Jennifer, You can always have 2 Facebook pages. Many people do. There is also LinkedIn, which is like a professional networking version of Facebook. The only way to know is to try it.
