CPG Marketing - The Freebies Marketing Component

When planning a CPG marketing campaign, several components must be considered. There are many great ways to market CPGs, such as product display, scent marketing and freebie marketing. While these methods, and others, are effective, business owners may have to pick what methods are the most effective, especially if they are operating on a tight budget. However, some CPG marketing methods are free, like visual displays and employee pitches. While the type of business usually determines how business owners will implement freebie marketing, the results are usually the same: Give customers a taste of your product, and let them determine if they like your product enough to purchase it. However, there are other aspects that are beneficial as a result of freebie marketing.

One great benefit that freebie marketing provides is customer loyalty. Through a series of subconscious aspects, customers actually connect with businesses more after they have received something for free. For example, it may have made a customer's day a little better, or it may have made a group's shopping experience better by giving them something to enjoy and talk about. Moreover, customers feel a need to reciprocate when they have received a free gift, though it may not always mean a purchase. Some customers reciprocate by giving the company free word of mouth marketing by telling their friends and family about the free samples and how great the product is.

Some companies use freebie marketing in a different sense. For example, they may give away an item that requires customers to purchase another item in order to use the free item. Often times, these freebies come in the form of coupons. For example, customers may have a coupon for free razor blade refills with a purchase of a new razor. The blades are free, but the customers must spend money on a new razor, which may have cost more than it cost to manufacture the blade refills. It is usually perceived as a win-win situation for both the customer and the business owner. Customers receive a discount without making the business owner truly lose money.

Of course, there are other ways to use freebie marketing as a vital component to a CPG marketing campaign. Original ideas and methods are the most effective.
