Retail Product Launches - Using Free Product Giveaways As A Component
One major aspect of a successful business is its ability to utilize various successful marketing methods to help drive sales. One of those methods is freebie marketing. There are several reasons why business owners should use freebie marketing in their overall marketing strategy.
Product launches
Companies that frequently produce new products must test each product to see which products will and will not be successful. One great way to test products is to offer them as free samples to customers, gathering information and opinions from them.
Some business owners give away free items and ask customers to take a quick survey to express how they feel about the item. Most customers are willing to answer a few questions in exchange for that free item. In fact, psychological studies show that people are compelled to reciprocate generosity.
How it works
Depending on your business, the way you give away free products may be different from other companies. For example, if you operate an online business, your customers must receive their free items via mail. However, if you are a brick and mortar business, you can simply hand out the free items.
Additionally, the actual new product does not always need to be the freebie item. Many business owners give away smaller, less expensive items to draw in customers. While the business owner has his customers' attention, he may promote the newly launched product, hoping that customers will also want to purchase the new product.
Tips
Always appear to be genuine. If your customers get the sense that you are blatantly offering free items in exchange for other actions, they may disregard your entire product giveaway campaign as dishonest. Moreover, people tend to warn their friends and family of bad companies, rather than promote good companies; you do not want to give negative impressions.
Is freebie marketing ideal for your company? That is something you must decide for yourself; every company is different. What works for some companies may not work for others. Testing and experimenting are the only two ways to determine if a marketing method works.
