Tips For Freebie Marketing

If utilized intelligently, freebie marketing is a wise and cost effective method for attracting new customers and promoting continued loyalty with established customers. Everywhere you look as a consumer you are bombarded with free offers. Free offers work to build trust and to entice consumers to take a chance on something new. Smart marketing strategists recognize the power of "freebies" in their quest for new customers and often pair a new product up with a "tried and true" product to gain an opportunity to prove the value. For example, a new toothpaste manufacturer might form a marketing alliance with an established toothbrush or mouthwash company with a good reputation by suggesting a partnership. Mouthwash sold with a free tube of toothpaste might sell better if sold at the same regular price, but with the added bonus of the toothpaste. Bargain shoppers might consider trying a different toothbrush or mouthwash brand to get the bonus of the added free toothpaste.

Consumers expect freebies. They have been conditioned to expect a free taste of that wine to decide whether they like it, or a free bag of potato chips when they buy a hamburger. The trick is to work freebies in to the marketing mix without making customers expect it forever. It has been proven that if something is given away for free for too long, the consumer questions the value of that product.

Any company that does not offer a freebie on occasion will be forced to take a backseat to a competitor company that will be more than happy to take that business away by offering a complimentary gift. A lot of restaurants or sandwich shops use cards to be punched, with a free sandwich or meal after the tenth visit to the restaurant. This method of giving a freebie rewards loyal customers by throwing them a complimentary meal after the customer has proven their loyalty and spent considerable money in their shop.

E-Books sold on the Internet offer other "free" e-Books as an enticement to purchase. Throwing in "free" bonuses is a given on the Internet.
