Using Free Samples To Build A Social Media Presence

Social media has a become a vital resource to both small and large businesses. These websites give businesses a platform from which to interact and build relationships with their customers. Many businesses also use social media to generate company awareness and expand their client base. Building an online presence is not always easy--especially not for small businesses. One way that many business owners are creating an online presence is through freebie marketing. Freebie marketing is a strategy that requires a company to give something away for free in order to accomplish a larger goal. In this case, the goal would be to gain a larger online following.

How to Implement a Freebie Marketing Strategy

In order to gain friends and followers, business owners must give consumers an incentive to connect. The incentive can be a free sample or a discount off of their next purchase. Many times, the difficult part is not deciding on a freebie, but figuring out how to get the freebie to the consumer.

Business owners can do this a few different ways. They can:

● Offer a freebie to new contacts;

● Periodically offer freebies to all of their online contacts;

● Or offer freebies to consumers that help them expand their following.

To make it easy, the freebie could be a coupon for a free sample that can be redeemed on the business owner's website or on location.

Instead of offering a free sample, the incentive could also be a discount on a product or service. Offering a discount is a great way to increase sales, while still offering a great deal. Periodically offering special deals is also effective in keeping friends and followers. Consumers are more likely to check a company's Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and/or LinkedIn if they know that they might occasionally get something out of it.

Offering free samples to social media contacts is an easy and effective way to gain a following. As long as the freebie is something that consumers want, people are very likely to tell their friends and family about the offer. While businesses will have to spend some time promoting their offer, they can also count on their online contacts to do much of the work for them.

I will tell you that the world is about 1 1/2 behind when it comes to understanding social media. Building a section now will put EvanCarmichael.com is a great position a year down the road when people realize Social Media can produce more traffic than SEO. Jeff

Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! Re: UPDATES: New Campaign! New Layout! New Ideas! - GT - thanks for the FYI - I'm not sure if we'll put a link back. Something to consider though! Trent - the new category is "Social Network and Media" which was put in to compliment the Online Businesses category that currently exists. Overall the new categories are: - Looking For, Networking and Events - Review My... - Social Network and Media - Brags and Rants These came as a result of Ringo doing research on other forums and thinking about what could be improved on ours to give a better experience for everyone. I hope you enjoy them! David, I'm looking forward to reading your Brag / Rant!

Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance - [quote="vbn411":7qciluxl]Social Media is space that you have to be in to succeed in our current climate. People are going to be discussing your brand / product whether you like it or not, so you might as well join the conversation and add value. [/quote:7qciluxl] I think that's probably one of the most realistic way to think about it. There's no real textbook way of understanding Social Media, it's the networks of people and their interactions that will exist with or without your input. As for Jennifer, You can always have 2 Facebook pages. Many people do. There is also LinkedIn, which is like a professional networking version of Facebook. The only way to know is to try it.
