Getting in Social Media Marketing
So many people talk about it and write about it. Social media is everywhere in our life today. You can twit things, flicker pictures, invite somebody to enter your facebook network, bookmark a page and so on. All those little gadgets have become so popular that we could even say that we have entered the social media era. People are getting fired because they say stupid things on their profile or do not get a job because of what is being displayed on their profile.
Being able to share pictures, ideas or simply what you are doing with friends is a great idea that makes sense for teenagers and some adults, but it might not make sense for a company trying to generate more business.
Well, even if getting more sales out of facebook or twitter may not be easy and obvious, it does something else; it creates a kind of club that brings together people with the same interests or people who have bought from the same company. It is a great tool to communicate with your customers when you are a big company or an SME. It makes your company looks more human and leads your customer to believe that you really care about them and want to share stuff with them.
It is absolutely not necessary for individuals to be on facebook or twitter or anything else, and not everybody sees the interest of those social media sites. But as a company, social media sites should not be neglected, especially if your target market is internet savvy and use those sites to communicate and share information with friends. With big brands spending millions every years to build customer loyalty, social media has become another way, sometimes cheaper to keep customers.
In the same way Google has its Adwords system for pay per click, Facebook has developed a system where you can put ads on the right hand side on facebook. It surely help them get some cash and keep afloat but it also allows companies to advertise on a more commercial way on facebook, and get to people with a facebook profile but that are not into the network of the company's facebook profile.
A lot of SEO companies offering SEO services now provide social media services aimed at helping companies getting into this social media era and not being left behind when their competitors are already on facebook or twitter for example.
