Quality inbound links for traffic and ranking
When measuring whether a link target is of good quality or not, people tend to use the Google Page Rank of the website. But actually this is not the right thing to do and doing so will certainly not help you find good quality websites to get links from in your link building strategy.
On top of that, the Page Rank given on the toolbar of your browser does not represent the real Page Rank that Google has given to the website. Once again they do not give away information to people.
So first of all, the best thing to do in your link building strategy when looking for inbound links is to go for websites where you actually would like to be seen. It may sound stupid but it is probably the best thing to do. You need for your link building strategy to look for the best sources of information in your area and to get a link from those websites. The fact that they may have a Page Rank of three or four or even lower does not really matter since it is something relevant to your industry, and this is much more valuable than having an inbound link from an irrelevant website that has a Page Rank of eight or nine.
As a matter of fact, a website relevant to your business is most likely to be used by people who are interested in your product or service.
Secondly, you should also consider going for website that will drive a good amount and relevant traffic to your site. Getting a like here is not just only about getting a proper inbound link, it is more about getting a link that people will click on and go to your site afterward. So as a result, you need to make sure that you are going for a busy site.
As said earlier, you need to make sure that the link you will get from the website is visible by the search engines. That is why the inbound link to your site must be in text and that it absolutely must be on a keyword, not on your name or URL. On top of that, you also need to make sure that the link will not be a “no follow” link as even is Yahoo and other smaller search engines will still see the link, Google will not see it.
It is crucial to get this right as it will help you achieve better ranking on the search engines for that specific keyword or key phrase.
