Does SEO Create More Sales?

Have you ever wondered why your website does not have a lot of traffic from search engines? If you are a company who is looking to have a substantial online presence to overcome your competition, you should realize that such a presence does not come automatically from just hosting your own websites with content in them. Even if the content in your website is of good quality, it will take years before you get enough traffic to convert the website or blog to a popular one. Of course traffic alone is not an indication of the number of sales you can make through your website. You also need to have customers who are interested in buying the product concerned.

This is where SEO or search engine optimization comes in. If you have not heard of this term then it is better that you begin to be familiar with it because your presence online depends on this. If you don't optimize your site properly then the only way visitors will chance upon it will be if they go to Google and click on the results in the fourth or fifth results page. As this is unlikely to happen, you should see that your website ranks in the first two pages of Google's search results for a particular keyword. When the customer searches for this particular keyword, your website should preferably be in the first few search results for this search.

If your site ranks below the first page then you will most probably not get any interested buyers to your site and this means that sales will most probably also not happen. The first criteria for getting sales is having interested customers. Without getting customers who are interested in your product to visit your website, your chances of getting a sale through your website are much reduced.

So how do you get your site on the first page of Google search results? Simple you use SEO techniques to do that. Once you decide a particular keyword you should then optimize your site carefully using that particular keyword. You can also increase the traffic to your website by increase the backlinks pointing to your website. However to get quality traffic, you should submit information about your services to article directories like Ezine and many others from where thousands of potential customers may arrive at your website. Also you should choose your anchor words with care to get further benefits from the search results. Your anchor words should not be boring like a simple 'click here' or 'click on this link.' Not only will this prevent more people from clicking on those links, search engines like Google will not properly index these links and you will be wasting a valuable chance to increase traffic to and sales from your site.

You should have backlinks from a variety of good quality websites, high PR blogs and other trusted sources the more the better as this will give you more publicity, more traffic and thus more sales. Either you can optimize your site yourself or you can hire one of the numerous SEO sites to do the job for you by using natural SEO techniques only.
