SEO Tactic Tips: Choosing To Cheat Or Fly Straight

While dishonest SEO tactics may pay off quickly for some, you need to ask yourself if you are willing to gamble your business’ success away for a few minutes of fame and fortune. Search engines catch onto black hat SEO tactics and can ban a website from its directory for life. If your website isn’t listed with search engines, how is a customer to find your website among the myriad of websites on the net? You might as well be Alice’s white rabbit if you’re not indexed by the major search engines- never to be seen again.

If you are hiring an SEO company, be sure to check them out first. Run a search on Google, MSN and Yahoo for their company name, URL and specialty. If you can’t find them, you don’t want their services. Check out their professional website. If they can’t optimize their own site, why should you pay them to optimize yours? If I haven’t mentioned it before, www.searchcommander.com is an excellent source for all of your internet consulting needs!

Ask for references and actually contact them- word of mouth can be a powerful tool- learn to use it in your favor. Ask your SEO company what specific tactics they will use to increase your SERP ranking. They should use diverse methods to increase your ranking. Along with the techniques listed in this series of articles, a good SEO company should also recommend paid sponsor listings and paid links if your budget allows for the same.

If a company claims to have a 100% success rate, beware. No one knows every algorithm used by all search engines. Obtaining the top spot on all search engines for a particular keyword is nearly impossible, and claiming to be able to repeatedly obtain #1 rankings for every customer is a flat out lie. Top ten ranking on Yahoo, MSN and Google are highly sought after and this is a more realistically attainable goal for SERP ranking.

Grey and black hat SEO tactics are popular and many businesses can get sucked into the cesspool unknowingly by not researching SEO tactics and staying involved in the marketing of their website. Con artists and people looking to make a quick buck are everywhere. They will take advantage of your trust and naivete if you allow them. Gaining accurate knowledge of search engine optimization, search engine marketing and website design is crucial for any internet business owner to survive on the net.

Knowledge is power. Get the facts and research the businesses that you trust your website design and content to. If you take the easy way out and blindly allow someone else to control your SEO, you are inviting trouble. Fly straight, offer quality services, products and content and your business will thrive on the net.

Choosing a title that has no relation to the content on the page Using extremely lengthy titles that are unhelpful to users Using a single title tag across all of your site’s pages or a large group of pages Stuffing unneeded keywords in your title tags Writing description meta tag that has no relation to the content on the page Multiple domains Multiple identical sites Cross Linking[/quote:1y3g8bot] re: Cross Linking, how do you define that? I thought linking to other pages on your website (that are related) was a good thing...maybe that's not what you meant.
