Fortunately, I figured out how to monitor the search terms that people were using to find my products by installing a traffic management program. After a few months, I found out that most people landing on my website were looking for photo supplies and inkjet supplies, not my coveted brand names. After I re-optimized my site to be more relevant to those search terms and refined other relevant aspects of my Internet marketing strategy, my sales really took off. I never looked back.

Now, eight years later, great tools available to find out which search terms people use. Some of the website are: Keywords Discovery, Keywords Elite, Digital Point's Keyword Suggestion tool and more. Once your site is up, or if you already have a website, make sure you monitor the key words people use to find your site and make search engine optimization adjustments accordingly. I highly recommend adding Google Analytics to your website too! This great free program lists all of the referring sources to your site as well as the keywords used to find your site.

To sum up: Understanding which search terms people use on the Internet to find products and services like yours, and then optimizing your web site for those search terms, will allow you to capture relevant search traffic and find new business via the Internet.
