Here is a list of SEO skills. It may include most of the SEO factors. If you do under these rules, I think you will be very successful as an SEO professional at least in one year.

Content
Keywords in the head of your page.
Keywords in the Title of your page.
Keywords in the regular content.
Keywords are included in the document name.
Use heading tag, such as h1 and h2.
Keywords in internal links.
Keywords in the name of picture documents.
Key words in Alt tag.
Keep your content updated and unique content.
Make a good site map for the search engine.

Links
Many links to your website.
Get links from High PR website.
Pay attention to the content of the sites who are linking to you.
Keywords included when others links to you.
Pay attention to the time of links you get. More than 3 months is good.
Exchanged links are less valued than unidirectional links.
The less you link to others, the better you for your website.
Submit your website link to some main directories, such as DMOZ, Yahoo Directory.

Avoid Things
Hide the content in any way. That is one of the worst things.
Exchanging links with the websites which are hosted the same IP address.
Reptile the search engine in any way. That is one of the worst thing too.
Adult content, prohibited drugs and featuring gambling content. And exchanging links with these sites.
Duplicate content.
Short time for your domain names.
Joining links farm.
Changing the design of your website regularly.
Making a copy of exist website.
