Better blogs mean better SEO – 3 great blogging tips

More a blog that: • Shares useful and important industry related information perhaps

• Invites feedback and interaction

• Strengthens your SEO and improves search engine positioning

• Extends the reach of your search engine coverage with 'long tail' keywords

• Offers a feel for you as a company, the way you like to operate, you values and beliefs.

• Gets under the corporate armour that so many companies wear and reveals a more human side to your organisation

• Reveals your range of skills and competencies

• Inspires people to sign up or regularly visit

• That builds a following

• Builds trust and eventually leads to extra business

Are you making the most of your blog? Here are 3 ways you can improve your blog

Share. Don't use your blog to take, use it to give. Share the most useful information you can. If what you give is valuable enough, if it resonates, you will attract an audience. It takes a lot of giving to get a return but if you engage with enough people over time the rewards can be handsome. Write to the highest standard you can afford and always try to add value to your readers' experience.

Understand that a blog takes commitment. Anything worth having does. That doesn't mean it can't be a lot of fun and that you won't meet plenty of great people on the journey. If you are organised and plan ahead then maintaining your blog (assuming you don't intend to post twice a day) should be pretty straightforward.

Relax. Blogging is a marathon not a sprint. If you run around the place expecting everything to happen instantly you'll be dispirited and burnt out in no time at all. Be patient. Building an audience, a reputation, authority and search engine positioning through a blog takes time. It's an organic process. And even if you are a patient person you will in all probability enter what is referred to as 'the trough of disillusionment.' It's the place where you can't help asking: ‘is this worth it? Am I just wasting my time?'

Use these times to keep assessing your blog for relevance and to check you are being generous enough with your content. Talk to your web marketing or SEO copywriting specialist for more information.

Re: How to gain more website traffic? Re: How to gain more website traffic? - Something overlooked often is guest blogging. I have done it once and an avalanche of traffic poured onto the linked site. Really, it's a smart strategy to perhaps look at what kind of blogs people are [i:3blz5tcm]already[/i:3blz5tcm] reading online and who is accepting guest blogging. Start doing guest blogging in that market and write more of what people are reading. I know a guy who does this quite a bit, and his advice is to attach an html formatted blog post to an email and approach the publisher. He said if he doesn't get one accepted, he'll just keep approaching others until it gets accepted.

Re: Backlink Partnerships Re: Backlink Partnerships - Hi GT - I have one site, it's not a blog, where I have an active link exchange program going. I pay $25 month and exchange links that way. I just wait for them to make the request (if I were more aggressive I could exchange a lot more links). About once a week I select from the pool of requests and discard non-related links, although I have set up a broad range of categories for them to choose from. I have about 1700 backlinks using linksmanager.com. I notice that blogs are great backlink generators, wish I could find Evans post that he did at problogger. I'll look for it... something about 19,000 backlinks. It was great. Would I use this system in future websites? I'm not so sure, maybe just use blogging strategies because blogs are the way to go. I'm not against exchanging home page links, although I believe it should not interfere with the aesthetics of the site. I did do it for awhile with a couple of websites then I changed the site around and put them in the resources area.
Re: What is your Business? Re: What is your Business? - Never tried blogging. I have so much to do and prioritizing is very important. So I am doing link building in my spare time and standard direct marketing as my main.

Merchant service credit card processing. With a good team of people. I try to do online marketing but I am not very good at it.[/quote:3l1iw4ah] Hi Tobuso, I'm new to the on-line business myself and what I aim by primarily joining this community, is to know what are the common "challenges" that aspiring net-marketers (such as yourself) are facing. I have been reading a lot of business blogs in the past couple of weeks and I always seem to come across comments from people that blogging is great for start-ups but not so good for already "established" companies/brand names to be doing. The reason that they usually lean to is that if you don't put good context or hire a good copywriter, you might as well not put up a blog for your website. Does your business engage in blogging?
