When to sack your SEO company– part 2

In part one of 'Search Engine Optimisation - why you should sack your SEO company' we examined a couple of the signals that your SEO company may not be delivering the sorts of results you should expect. 'Honeymoon over' signs that in the cold light of day tell you that you could in all probability be getting better results by switching providers. Here are a couple more.

Don't be content with minimal content

Your website isn't a flat, online version of a company brochure. At least that's not the way it should be regarded. Successful websites are vibrant, dynamic information hubs, rich resources of information that your audience will find useful, entertaining and shareable. By evolving a site that not only shares expert opinion but seeks it too in the form of forums, blogs and online communities, organisations establish themselves and their websites as industry leading. How is this achieved? Through content.

A strong search campaign is a strong content creation campaign. The more quality content your site shares the more chance you have of building links and the better your search positioning.

If your SEO company doesn't get this concept then it's time to press the eject button.

Social media shy?

This carries on from the point regarding content. Any SEO company worth its salt these days will be keen for you to throw yourself into the world of push social media. If you've gone to the trouble of creating compelling content then why not go the final mile and let people know about it? What better way of propagating your content than by using social media in the form of Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook etc? Build links, followers, advocates and new client lists and search positioning through social media. Either your SEO company can integrate your social media and content marketing strategies into you overall SEO or else find a partner who can.

PR partnership

If you employ an offline PR company then it's important that your SEO company is comfortable working alongside them. In fact, they should be campaigning to. There are many online/offline crossover areas such as link building in which collaboration is vital.

Whilst you want to be fair to your existing SEO company most of all you need to be fair to yourself. SEO is important. Your online presence and profitability is too important to take risks with. Make sure that you are using the best SEO possible.

Re: A New Team Building Member Re: A New Team Building Member - When you work for a certain company, team building is necessary to ensure the success of the company or organization. Often they are called colleagues and as part of a team, you should win their trust. The leader should set a good example so that others will follow.
Re: Who did your logo design? Re: Who did your logo design? - Hey Kevin, THanks for note. I think in order for businesses to really create great logos as part of their overall branding strategy they have to consider how it will engage with a customer. I like the concept of engaging all of ones senses, although I dont know if that is really relevant. There is a lot of research available about the psychology of colour for example and how to use it properly so that it says what you want. There also font treatments that are more appealing to older audiences etc. When we work with a company we take them through a very comprehensive briefing. This includes things like setting the tone of the business, the culture etc. Think of Google and how they update their logo with themes all the time. It makes it relevant and engaging, also interesting....focussed on a young hip market but approachable to all. Your logo is only one part of your branding strategy, ie. what you stand for and what kind of experience your customers have with you and your company... J
Re: I want to turn my ebook to video Re: I want to turn my ebook to video - Hi, Thanks for the positive response...we have been re-designing our entire site for 1 1/2 (still are) to not only showcase our services but to help people build/grow their business through our articles. Our company currently has 8 full time employees & they have managed at times 28 part-time / contracted web designers, programmers, consultants, and internet marketers. Many times for larger projects we will bring certified vendors on...just like a construction company would if they were building a large building. Give Dan from our company a call at 952-935-4852 if you wanted to discuss a software development project. What would be the most cost effective way to build a new piece of software is hire us for the Software Architecture (i.e. plan everything out). This can be compared to a blueprint for a construction company. Once you have a blueprint you can give it to ANY construction company to build it. So even though we would like to plan + build + help you market the software this will put you in the best position to make even our own company compete for your project. Jeff
Negotiating Equity Ownership Negotiating Equity Ownership - I would give up ownership for the right investor. Some entrepreneurs end up giving too much of their company to get funded but this isn't usually the case. I think too many entrepreurs are selfish and forget that without the money it will be very hard to get the company off the ground and it will never hit the success that the entrepreneur wants it to hit. Sure, the investor will make a lot of money off of you but that's only if you succeed and you need the money to get there. I'd rather have a small part of a very big pie than 100% of nothing!
Investing in other people ventures Investing in other people ventures - It would depend what the investments are. Typically, if the company/person/management is very experienced and it is in a field I am not very familiar with, then I will be silent. If I am investing in a company that I think could use some help and advice, then I would be more hands-on. At the moment, I have a lot of current investments and am very busy being a part of a new business launch, so I would prefer to be more of a silent prater and to serve more as a mentor. But that doesn't mean I am restricting myself to this should the right opportunity arise.
