Whether you are an Internet marketer or simply an individual who wants to make money online, affiliate programs are a quick and easy way to earn extra cash. Some affiliates, known as super affiliates, earn their living doing nothing other than selling affiliate products online.

Let’s begin with a definition of affiliate marketing. Not the textbook definition but an actual definition that breaks down the difference between affiliates and publishers. Publishers create products and affiliates sell them. It’s that simple.

That’s why affiliate marketing is so great for so many people. You don’t need to create your own product, store that product, hire a sales force, or pay any overhead. In fact, all you need to do is find products you wish to sell and sell them.

Affiliate products are sold by placing an affiliate link on your website or blog. Even at the bottom of your articles or forum posts, you can often include an affiliate link to the product you are promoting. When an individual clicks through your link and buys, you earn a commission.

How can you find products and services to sell using the affiliate marketing model? Affiliate websites like Clickbank and Commission Junction make it easy. These sites bring together publishers and affiliates making it very easy to sell your product or find offers you wish to promote.

There are many ways to choose a product that’s right for you to sell via affiliate marketing. The best place to start is with what you have. Do you have a website? A blog? If you do, look for products in the same niche. You can easily add a link to your website or blog, promoting an affiliate product. This is the quickest way to earn affiliate commissions.

What if you don’t own a website? At this point, you have a couple of different options. The first is to launch a site or blog. There are a number of resources available to help you do this. One suggestion is to visit template monster or Wordpress and build your own online web page. You can then begin to promote this page and include affiliate offers.

The other option you have is to begin publishing articles on a topic that you know a lot about. I have seen a number of affiliate marketers earn a significant income simply by writing articles and reviews about products in their niche.

Take stock and think about what you have to begin selling products and earning an affiliate income. Your resources may be a website or blog or simply your expertise in a given industry or niche. Research affiliate products via a publishing network and start promoting. You can begin earning income immediately.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals - According to Guy Kawasaki, he says "you should only hire and keep people that you'd hustle over to and engage in a conversation...Life is too short to work with people you don't naturally like-especially in a young, small organization" ("The Art of the Start" pg 112). I think the reverse is also true and I wouldn't want to work for anyone I didn't like or want to talk to if I saw him/her outside of the office. In addition, Kawasaki also says "Steve Jobs has a saying that A players hire A players; B players hire C players; and C players hire D players...This trickle-down effect causes bozo explosions in companies. If there is one thing a CEO must do, it's hire a management team that is better than he is" ("The Art of the Start" pg 101). Kawasaki's quote is definitely in favor of hiring the ambitious worker, but do most CEO's even have the humility to admit that someone is better than them?
