Never underestimate the importance of META Tags and how your site is optimized. META tags can make the difference between your users coming to your site and going to your competitor’s. Search Engines heavily rely upon the Keywords & Description Meta tags to populate their search database. I have seen to many sites that do not even have META Tags in them and some where built by supposed great Web Developers. Even the Developers themselves do not have proper and in some cases any META Tags at all. This was a great surprise to me. However use discretion in writing these at there are certain search engine ways of picking up your META’s. Too many of the same word for example will get you booted from many search engines. A huge number of keywords for the same page can spell trouble as well. The description should be a small, meaningful summary of the whole page that makes sense even when seen out-of-context of the webpage itself, say, in a listing of search engine results. This is only a little sample of how META Tags and Keywords/Description work. It is worth it to have someone with experience put them in even if you built your own website. Its great to have a good looking site but if know one sees it but you then what does it matter. You need traffic/people to see what you site is and what it has to offer. Take that little bit of cash that you have and invest it in getting someone who knows about these tags to install them for a small fee. It is worth it. It was not long ago I helped a lady with her website. She said she was having traffic problems and also could not get her site listed in Google. I took a look at her site and noticed her META's where done wrong. I fixed it and added a little content to help optimize her site and within 2 hours she was listed #1 in Google for her main keyword search term. Now that will not happened every time but it shows you that sometimes it only takes a few small changes.
