Getting Loads Of Targeted Visitors With Long-Tail Keywords
One of the things that will make a site super successful, is the ability to provide relevant information to your visitors. This isn't as easy at it sounds, but it is vital to the success of a website. If a visitor arrives at your site looking for particular information, and they don't get it, they will hit the back button.
Let's take an example in the barbecue niche.
You might have a page about "BBQ smokers".
That's great, but what if someone is looking for plans to build a BBQ smoker, and they arrive at your page which basically describes what a smoker is, or how it works? Would they be targeted? Would
they likely stay on your site, and follow your call to action (whether it is clicking an affiliate link, or clicking an Adsense ad)? Probably not. The information is not targeted enough for that visitor.
If you created a page that was targeted to that visitor, then there is a good chance they would at least read your page, and follow your call to action. The more targeted the information, the better
your conversion rates.
In this example, writing an article on plans for a BBQ smoker would be the way to go. However, the big problem is actually finding these specific phrases in the first place.
This type of phrase is often called the long-tail. They tend to have less competition, and fewer searches, but they are vital to the success of a site, and allow you to cater for a wider audience,
providing highly relevant information to each visitor.
One way to find these long-tail keywords is to look through your log files. Look for the phrases that people use to find your pages, and then create content that is more targeted to their
requests.
