Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I think in Online Marketing company online presence can be a wining factor for the success of the company.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
Re: 4 Ideas for Viral Marketing - I do agree with GT. Viral Marketing has various face and many people adopt different strategies. Some go for impressive sales pages, e-mail marketing, etc. I couldn't see much answer to this post. Let's hear from others too. Thanks, Robert
