Yahoo is accepting only your business or website name in the title. So it is imperative to choose a website or business name that represent well your field. This is applicable when submitting to major directories.

Suppose that you are selling natural weight loss products and your website URL is:

naturalweightlossprograms.com

A good and effective title for The Yahoo Directory would be: ''Natural Weight Loss Programs.com''

And a good and effective description would be:

''Featuring natural weight loss products, diet plans and natural energy supplement formulated from natural ingredients.''

When writing your site description makes sure that it helps in making your category selection better. Also, have it lean towards the category in which your site should be listed in. When submitting in a manufacturing listing, there must be some mention of manufacturers and also remember not to hype your site too much. It may be a good idea to view other similar sites to get an idea of what works and what does not. Write a short and concise descriptions using your main keywords.

You will also need to consider the directory category in which to list your site. Doing a search in the directory using your main keywords will help you to identify the best category suited for your website.
You may also suggest a second category for your site to appear in.

When you go to the appropriate commercial sub-category relevant to your site, you will see the Suggest a Site links at the bottom.

Keeping these points in mind will make sure that your Yahoo! Directory listing is profitable.

Yahoo Directory Traffic - Hi Evan, I would be looking at Yahoo more for traffic than rankings. Your site gets considerably more traffic than ours so it would be harder to see significant gains. I am wondering in our case if we would. Has anyone else had any experience with Yahoo Directory - especially with traffic increases?

Yahoo traffic - Hi Louis, Yahoo has been one nut that I've been trying to crack for a while. We rank very well in Google and get some MSN traffic but Yahoo does not send anything my way. I thought signing up for the paid directory would help but it has just been a waste of money to date. If anyone has had success with Yahoo and has a suggestion, let me know!
