"Beware when a great thinker is let loose on this planet. Then all things will be at risk."
Information for Promotion-
Don't underestimate any facet of your business, no matter how trivial it may seem. Along with business cards, there are other documents that can be taken advantage of in promoting your business. Business stationary should have the name, logo, contact information (including URL), and memorable slogan embracing it. This holds true for every piece of stationary (not just letterheads). Think of this for envelopes, out-going faxes, bill payments, receipts, and any piece of stationary that relates back to your business.
Apply Articles and Release Releases-
Informative and useful articles produced by your business can provide free advertising. Have them available where your target audience is going to be. Consider magazines and especially the Internet in incorporating articles into the promotional mix. Comprising press releases containing newsworthy and engaging information is another method of positive promotion. The release can inform the public of a new product, expansion of business, events, special awards received, etc. Again, not only consider paper media like newspapers, but also consider implementing press releases on the Internet (find press release services if you do not know of them).
"What is the hardest task in the world? To think."
Forums, Freebies, and Buddies, Ohh My-
People who you would otherwise not be able to contact can be reached in message forums. Forums are not for strict advertising (but that's okay-time and place). You can advertise, however, the level of knowledge and personality your business possesses on forums. Choose forums that are related to your business and industry. Linking with other businesses that will include information about your business in their promotions, while you doing the same for them, will increase your chances of finding new customers. Hooking up with a business that is similar in nature can serve you both well if there is some sort of event that both of you could contribute to together. People love to receive things for free (especially from businesses); you can use freebies not only as promotions, but also as incentives for regular customers as well. Even small things can make big statements and create a big impact on your customer- it's the thought that counts.
Shows and Seminars to Talk Up Your Business-
A great and different way of promoting your business is to look into potential spots on local radio or T.V. stations. Call-in shows are particularly popular and depending on your area of expertise, your company on the show may be well appreciated. Providing a free seminar speaking on a specialized topic is a great way to promote your business covertly. You don't have to directly mention your company's name, but the people will appreciate your knowledge and will find out whom you are if provided with captivating information. You don't have to give a seminar in-house, but you can choose other venues where you can speak to the public.
"It is for want of thinking that most men are undone."
Capitalize on Vehicles and Leisure-
Think of how many times you casually look around while riding around in traffic. Think of all of those clever license plates that make you snicker. This could be an optimal time to promote for your business. A simple logo or sticker may draw driver attention to your business. Hopefully you are not all business; finding a way to incorporate leisure time and business could be a fun way to promote. For instance, coming up with decorative T-shirts with witty and humorous company slogans are a good way to get you noticed outside of the suit and tie. Remember, promoting should never stop and can take place anywhere at anytime. Don't believe me? Your competitor will.

A successful business cannot be operated without putting in the effort of promotion. It is a vital part of the existence of the business and should be continuously worked and improved upon. Usually when a business feels as if they have gotten the ball rolling (especially if they have been around for awhile) they begin to slack in the area of promotions. They forget that no matter how successful they are, there is someone, somewhere, who is putting in the time to get ahead. Following are some dynamite ways to promote your business in a cost effective fashion.
