Naming
your website files properly can go a long way in increasing your SEO -Search engine rankings. Not only
should you have keywords in your file names, but you should also be able to
write in the correct naming convention. A page's file name will be the first
thing that web search spiders will see when the index your website. Thus, you
have to make sure that your file names are highly related to the content of
your website. Here are five more things that you should know regarding file
naming conventions:
1) Do not change website file
names if your page has already been indexed.
2) File
names should be associated with "hot button keywords", keywords that
are important to, and are part of your website.
3) File
names should be able to tell the website user/reader what is contained within
the content of the website.
4) Always
use a dash (-) instead of underscores (_) for multiple keywords.
5) Use
these rules for SEO, for all website elements such as images and videos to
achieve Top rankings within the
Search Engines.
