Naming your website files properly can go a long way in increasing your SEO -Search engine rankings. Not only should you have keywords in your file names, but you should also be able to write in the correct naming convention. A page's file name will be the first thing that web search spiders will see when the index your website. Thus, you have to make sure that your file names are highly related to the content of your website. Here are five more things that you should know regarding file naming conventions:

1) Do not change website file names if your page has already been indexed.

2) File names should be associated with "hot button keywords", keywords that are important to, and are part of your website.

3) File names should be able to tell the website user/reader what is contained within the content of the website.

4) Always use a dash (-) instead of underscores (_) for multiple keywords.

5) Use these rules for SEO, for all website elements such as images and videos to achieve Top rankings within the Search Engines.

When Webhost providers go bad When Webhost providers go bad - I've had my websites on IPower for the last two years or so. I didn't really care much for their interface - geocities has one that's much better (but they angered me so I refuse to use them anymore) but I was used to it. For the last several months they've been "transitioning" to a new system, and now, finally, it's upon me, and I really, really hate their File Manager system. They've done [i:2kaa5kss]one [/i:2kaa5kss]good thing - you can now see the date that you last updated any particular file. Before that you never knew what date anything had been uploaded. But the rest of it is just clunky and bad and quite frankly, inept! I just shot off a pretty angry complaint letter to their "Help" desk, not that I think it will do any good. So I'm in the hunt for a new web service provider. Anybody here familiar with Geocities, but have some service provide [i:2kaa5kss]other [/i:2kaa5kss]than Geocities who has the same type of File Manager system as they do?

They started an entertainment-related business that has skyrocketed in popularity. From YouTube, to Runescape, to Gaming, to File Hosting - all are the most popular brands of their kind. If these young bucks can do it, it gives us old geezers a glimmer of hope!
