Major search engines utilize duplicate content filters to determine if you have repeated content on your website or any other website on the Internet. This is done in an effort to reduce the deceptive measures that some webmasters use in order to receive higher page rankings in search indexes. Search engines provide search results that need to be succinct and right on the money, otherwise searchers may go to other search engines. In truth, the only thing that should be duplicated on any internal page on your website is the site navigation menu. It is okay to duplicate the navigation menu because it makes it easier for the Web user and the Search engine spiders to navigate the pages of your website, but all other content should be original, unique, and informative if you are going to be successful in implementing SEO methods.

The uniqueness of your site includes distinct Meta tags and titles for each and every page, with unique body content of articles: the more unique, the better your search engine optimization methods will be and rankings within the search engines. Duplicate content filters will basically eliminate anything that is repeated from search engine indexes. Any page detected as identical to another page on a website, any content that has been taken from another site and reworded or spun, and product descriptions put on e-commerce sites, and articles that are repeatedly syndicated and over distributed are sometimes banned or blacklisted from the major search engine indexes.

Re: Meta Tags Re: Meta Tags - [quote="ChrisH":tzc1bohg]I'm just curious what you all think -- - How important do you think meta tags are? If the content is keyword optimized and they are being used correctly (as per Google's current instructions) how important are meta tags?? Chris[/quote:tzc1bohg] Metatags were very important 10 years ago. Now, search engines are smarter... There are 2 very important things on your page: 1/ Page title: make sure to place some keywords in your title (avoid title like "welcome to my website, great information resource". You are wasting prime keyword real estate. 2/ Content. Content. Content. Content. Content. Oh, did I mention content?? Your content as to mention your main keywords several times. 3/ <h> and <b> tags are very important too. They tell search engines you emphasize these keywords.
Re: Best looking social networking site? Re: Best looking social networking site? - Hi Kevin [quote:3h76yt08]With so many social networking sites to pick and choose from, what influences your decision to join a particilar site? Is it just your friends, the content, people using it or looks??[/quote:3h76yt08] For me, the most essential criteria in selecting a Social Networking Site is its Content followed closely by popularity- in terms of daily visitors. Then comes the Content followed by the Friends and looks. Most of do social networking to attract traffic to their website(s) and as such the Content and Popularity of the site are important. btw, the list doesn't have digg or netscape or del.is.us which are the top social media sites.
Re: Bad SEO techniques? Re: Bad SEO techniques? - There are few more techniques which also known as the Bad SEO Techniques or Black Hat SEO Techniques. Such as: - Relying on keyword metatags - Purchase Links (From Spamming or blacklisted sites or doing purchase links on high level for site marketing) - Horde Page Rank: This is one of my favorites, because it's one that most webmasters don't understand yet. This is because it changed over the past year or two. The concept people have in their mind is that page rank is a key part of site rankings and linking to other sites "leaks page rank" from your site. However, the world has changed. - Swap Links: Another oldie, but not goodie. Search engines want links to represent endorsements. Swapped links represent barter, and they are trivial to detect. Don't swap links for the purpose of building page rank. It's a waste of your time - Implement duplicate content - Use Session IDs on your URLs - Use lots of Javascript - Implement your site in Flash
Re: Free elecrtricity generator Re: Free elecrtricity generator - Can anybody help me with any aspect of my invention? In basic terms it is the energy of Gravity conserved and reused = (Auto engaging and disengaging shafts) = perpetual motion Perpetual motion + static friction generated in a pipe = free static electricity Free static electricity converted to usable electricity = Free usable electricity Free usable electricity generated by the constant friction generated by an auto engaging and disengaging machine that conserves the energy of gravity in a overcrankable clock spring The weight is easilly lifted back up the shaft with the aid of a double pully on ropes

I have one question, though. How would one implement Session IDs for a URL, and what benefit would come from doing so?
