How to get your web site indexed by Major Search Engines?
Search Engine Optimization is getting more and more difficult day by day. Major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN take very long to index all pages of a web site in most cases.
The first step after selection of the right keywords is to optimize the whole web site for the selected keywords. Once the web site is optimized and made live, the most important phase in SEO is to get all pages of the web site indexed by major search engines. This is the most important phase in SEO process.
A Search Engine Optimizer should know how to get your web site indexed quickly. Different SEO experts use different techniques in order to have their web sites indexed. As a SEO expert, I use few simple techniques to invite search engine bot to my web sites.
Here is the step by step procedure which you can follow to get through the indexing process easily and successfully.
Web Site Design:
Very few web designers know the importance of search engine friendly web design. Most of the web designers don’t know how to design a web site to conform major search engines’ algorithms and what SEO elements should be taken into consideration to make a web site design search engine friendly. I will discuss this topic in detail in my next article. Here I would like to mention that your web site design should be search engine friendly so that search engine bot can easily go through all pages of your web site.
Web Site navigation:
Web site navigation scheme plays a vital role in web site indexing. Your web site navigation scheme should be designed in such a way that visitors and search engines’ spiders can easily go through all the pages easily and without any difficulty.
Java and other scripts:
Many websites use Javascript to build multiple-level navigation menu, improve look and feel or functionality. However, the Javascript code usually left in the HTML code of the web page, it makes the HTML coding a bit heavy and provide hindrance for search engine bot. to crawl down the page. This is no good in terms of SEO. It is recommended that a separate Javascript file be used to call all javascripts from.
Create HTML Site Map:
Create an html site map to include links to all web site pages. This can help in guiding search engine bot to all web site pages. It is recommended that the link of html site map be placed on top right corner of the home page of the web site.
Google verification:
Get your site verified by Google. In order to get your site Google verified. Follow these simple steps:
Create a Google Account
Add Webmaster Tools to your account
Get your web site verified
Create a Google Sitemap
Submit it to Google.

Yahoo Verification:
Add your web site to Yahoo site explorer using your existing Yahoo account or create one. Get your site verified. You can create site feed in atom or RSS format to submit to Yahoo site explorer.
Posting your Site link:
One of the most important factors which helps site indexing is your web site link on web sites or web pages which are already indexed by major search engines. If you are able to post your link on some PR 4 or 5 web pages, your web site will defiantly get indexed very quickly.
If you follow the techniques I mentioned above, it is most likely that your web site gets indexed quickly and you can start your journey towards top ranking in major search engines, the dream of all webmasters.
