Can you find your website in search engines? Can potential customers find you quickly and easily?
If not, you might want to consider changing your SEO provider. If you don't have an SEO provider, it may be time to find one.
Here are some things to look for when hiring, or evaluating your SEO provider.
1. MONTHLY REPORTING You should have access to reporting that illustrates the work performed each month and the progress being made. If an SEO company doesn't provide this type of reporting, you'll have no no way of knowing what you paying for each month.
2. A (REALISTIC) GUARANTEE We are not talking about the GUARANTEED #1 OVERNIGHT type of guarantee, but something more realistic. If your website ranking does not improve over time, you should be entitled to some sort of refund.
3. AN SEO COMPANY, NOT A COMPANY THAT OFFERS SEO There's a important difference here. You want to have experts working on your website, not designers and marketers who claim to be search engine-experts. Look for a company that focuses only on search engines. There are plenty of companies out there that will take your money for "SEO" but only a few that really have expertise in the field.
4. GET REFERENCES Even if you don't plan to use them, ask for them. If a company doesn't want to provide references, they may not have many happy clients.
5. A WELL ESTABLISHED COMPANY SEO is a very new field, but the experts have been around for at least a few years. Make sure to find out how long a company has been doing SEO, not just how long they've been in business. Lots of marketing companies that have been in business several years but just started doing SEO. Our suggestion is to look for a company that has been doing SEO for at least 3 years.
6. FINDING THE BEST COMPANIES IN YOUR CITY Use Google.... just type in "(your city) Search Engine Optimization." The companies that come up near the top are probably your best bets. When looking for an SEO company, DO NOT use the Sponsored (PPC) listings -- you want a company that is good at SEO, not PPC.
